Student Uniform Policy This policy addresses issues in relation to: Safe and Supportive Environment Student Welfare 3.6.2 (See also Policy on Behaviour Management) As an independent school, Al-Faisal College has a designated school uniform worn by all students at all times. Parents and students are advised of the uniform and procedures in order to purchase the various items at the time of enrolment and are reminded and updated through the school newsletter and app. The full school uniform is also detailed in the school diary. Unofficial uniforms and logos are not accepted at the College. s or caps are also a compulsory part of the school uniform for boys. Girls may wear a white tennis shade or sunvisor when outside. When outside students without hats, will be required to sit in the shade. Only black leather enclosed dress shoes are approved. Slip-on shoes, open style shoes, canvass shoes, sport shoes and high heels are not permitted. Students must wear the full school uniform when travelling to and from school. The uniform must always be neat, modest and well presented. Dirty, torn or damaged uniforms are unacceptable. If for any reason a child is out of full school uniform for a day, a note from the parents must be sent to the school justifying the reason. This should be presented to the classroom teacher (primary) or roll call teacher (secondary). The Deputy Principal (primary) or Head of Welfare (secondary) should also be notified. Sanctions or penalties may be imposed if the correct uniform is not being worn: In minor cases the Deputy Principal (primary), or Welfare Advisor (secondary) may warn the student in the first instance for wearing incorrect uniform and negotiate a date by which the correct uniform is purchased and worn appropriately. When significant parts of the uniform are not worn correctly, the Deputy Principal (primary) or Head of Welfare (secondary) may contact parents and the student sent home to correct their uniform. Should students continue to wear incorrect uniform their parents will be contacted by the Deputy Principal (primary) or Head of Welfare (secondary) and an after school detention or a suspension issued. The student will also be sent home to correct their uniform. Students who still do not wear the uniform may be excluded from class and their parents contacted. The student's place at the school will be reviewed by the Deputy Principal. Students and their parents have the right to appeal these decisions through submissions to the Principal. Personal Hygiene Students must be well presented at all times. Girls with long hair must have their hair tied up and from Year 4 onwards must wear the Hijab. Boys must have a short, plain haircut of even length, all over (no undercuts, hair products or extreme hairstyles). Fingernails must be kept short and clean. The only forms of jewelry permitted at school are wristwatch for boys and girls and stud earrings for girls.
