Introduction to the Digital Courseware Introduction This guide explores the digital courseware for envisionmath Texas 2.0. It explains customizable program components on the Pearson Realize platform. It also identifies ways to engage students through dynamic digital content. Finally, it explains powerful embedded assessments and data-tracking tools. Pearson Realize Begin at PearsonTexas.com. If you already have an account on other Pearson platforms, like SuccessNet, you can use the same log-in information here. Otherwise, sign up for a new account. From the home page, access program resources as well as class management and data-tracking tools. 1

Your students see similar menus where they can access program resources, see assignments, and view their grades. There are four main types of resources that you will find in the program resources. Identify each one by its icon: Videos Online assessments Documents Online practice Assign videos, assessments, worksheets, games, and other resources to your students with the Assign link. Resources that do not have the Assign link are intended for teacher use only. Teacher Resources Sidebar Find additional Teacher resources for envisionmath Texas 2.0 by selecting Show teacher resources. The sidebar that pops up contains documents and resources that relate to the program, topic, or lesson menu that you have open. 2

Choose to leave the sidebar open, or hide it to focus on the menu. To learn more about Pearson Realize platform features, watch additional tutorials on this Web site. Customizable Content Take advantage of the flexibility built into envisionmath Texas 2.0 by customizing its contents to meet your needs. Drag and drop topics or lessons into any order that aligns with your district framework. Add content such as notes, images, documents, presentations, audio files, videos, or Web sites. Choose to share them with students, or keep them for yourself in a place that gives you convenient access. Table of Contents From the home page, choose your envisionmath Texas 2.0 program to view the Table of Contents. Display the Table of Contents with thumbnails or in a list. Find links to Professional Development videos; Course assessments; and topic materials. Administer the assessments in this list for broad evaluations of your students knowledge. Use the Placement Test to check their understanding of skills and concepts from the previous grade. Assess their content knowledge after every four topics with the Benchmark Tests. Locate more grade-level specific information in the Teacher resources sidebar. Here, find Basic-Facts Timed Tests; Teaching Tools; the English Language Proficiency Standards Toolkit; and the Texas Assessment Resources Teacher s Guide. 3

Topics Find topic-specific resources in the Topic sections. Watch the Professional Development video prior to teaching each topic. Each video provides content background for that topic from the program authors. Engage your students with Today s Challenge. Each topic includes one set of five problems that use the same data. Ask students to solve and write their own problems online using the DrawPad. Find more topic-specific resources in the Teacher resources sidebar. Connect with parents, and reinforce classroom learning with Home- School Connection letters. These letters include an overview of the concepts that students will study in the topic. They also offer ideas for math activities that parents and students can complete together. Additionally, locate supporting documents for Problem-Solving Reading Activities and Topic Assessments in the sidebar. Lessons Draw on engaging resources for individual lessons in the lesson menu. Begin every lesson with the Solve & Share problem. Build students understanding about the important math ideas in the lesson through this Problem-Based Learning activity. Assign the Solve & Share problem to students through Pearson Realize, or project it and have students follow along in their student editions. During instruction, model math concepts with the Visual Learning Animation video. It corresponds to the Visual Learning Bridge for each lesson. Show the animations to unpack problems through a step-by-step approach. When the videos pause automatically, engage your students in discussion to help them become proficient problem solvers. The Visual Learning Animations are also available for you on CD. 4

Use the Daily TEKS Review anytime during the lesson. Assign this to your students through Pearson Realize, or download and print PDFs. This worksheet is editable, so you can customize as needed. Download an editable Lesson Plan from the Teacher resources sidebar within each lesson. The Lesson Plan is an easy way to view the lesson s Essential Understandings; Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS); English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS); Vocabulary; and Materials. Do not forget that you can customize each lesson. Adjust the order, add your own resources, and even add notes that your students can see when they navigate through the program. 5

Assignments Assign assessments, Visual Learning Animations, worksheets, and other resources with the Assign link. Assign work to entire classes, or differentiate instruction by assigning to groups or individual students. Show your students how they can see the list of assignments when they log in. Online assessments are submitted and automatically graded. For other types of assignments, ask students to turn in a paper copy, submit an attachment, or submit their responses online. Monitor students completion of assignments in the Classes tab. Grade assignments that are not automatically scored by choosing Score and manually entering a percentage score. This way, students and their parents have easy access to students grades in one place. Use the calendar to track assignments and events. Assessments Take advantage of the power of online assessments embedded in the Pearson Realize platform. When you assign an online assessment, students can log in on a computer or mobile device to take the assessment. Show students how to use the built-in audio support. Click this symbol to hear the questions read out loud. After they finish, students submit their answers and receive immediate feedback. On the due date, review data from the assessment to see how well each student has mastered the content. For the online Quick Checks, Topic Tests, and Benchmark Tests, have the platform automatically assign remediation and enrichment activities to students based on this data. Content in the lessons is aligned to resources in the Math Diagnosis and Intervention System 2.0 (MDIS 2.0). Access MDIS 2.0 from the main program menu. 6

More Assessment Options Add your own assessments to Pearson Realize to utilize data-tracking tools on tests or quizzes that you create. Choose options for the number of attempts that students are allowed on each question and on the whole assessment. Create multiple-choice and gridded-response questions. Add your own images as well. Find even more assessment options on the ExamView Assessment Suite CD. The updated database of assessment items fully correlates to the Math TEKS and the envisionmath Texas 2.0 program. Digital Resources Explore other digital resources for your envisionmath Texas 2.0 classroom. In the Program menu, open the Standards tab to view the Math TEKS that your grade addresses. Choose a strand to see all of the lessons, activities, and resources that support that strand. Search by keyword to locate content that you can use to support your students. In the Tools menu, access Math Games to motivate, reinforce skills, and develop procedural fluency. Differentiate by launching the student centers. Have students watch the Visual Learning Animation, complete Today s Challenge, play games, or access the Assess and Differentiate resources. Share the URL with parents and students, so students can practice at home. Find animated illustrations and definitions of key terms in the Glossary. Show your students how to access online Math Tools. Use them in class, or have your students use them at home to actively engage with digital manipulatives. 7

ACTIVe-book Have students interact with their student editions online in their ACTIVe-books. Show your students how to access the ACTIVe-book from the Pearson Realize platform. When students use the ACTIVe-book, powered by Dash, they can complete and submit their work online. Provide feedback to them electronically. Assign and assess student edition pages such as Independent Practice; Homework; Guided Practice; or Review What You Know. Learn more about the features of Dash and the ACTIVe-book from tutorials on this Web site. etext Access a digital version of the text from the etext tab on Pearson Realize or through the Pearson etext for Schools app. Use the Pearson etext for Schools app to access a digital version of the envisionmath Texas 2.0 Teacher s Edition on your tablet. Show your students how they can use the same app to access the student edition. Connect online to view the entire etext. Or, download specific portions to be able to access them offline. Add bookmarks, highlights, and notes throughout the etext that you can view at any time. Pearson BouncePages Access Visual Learning Animations from the student edition on any mobile device with the Pearson BouncePages app. Download Pearson BouncePages to your tablet or smartphone via your mobile app store. Follow three simple steps to animate the lessons from any mobile device. Aim the camera at the student edition page. Tap the screen. Bounce the page to life by clicking the icon. Share this resource with parents and students, so students can interact from home. Explain that students can interact with any student edition page that displays the Visual Learning icon. 8
