We seek an enthusiastic and creative Secondary Teacher of English and Humanities to join our team for school year 2018/19 Position: Secondary Teacher (Expatriate) Line Manager: Head of School Start date: August 2018 Contract length and type (optional please state preference in application): A/ 1 year, full time (maternity cover) B/ 3 years, full time Application Deadline: Monday, February 26, 2018 Our School Green Shoots International School was established in 2011 and has subsequently developed a reputation for quality, creativity, and care. We prioritize the needs of the whole child, bringing into our educational culture a strong focus on academic learning, environmentally sensitive practice and cross-cultural values. Through mindful practice we help children grow into happy, healthy and generous young people, able to contribute to the world they will inherit. We follow the British National Curriculum in the Early Years (under 5 s), Key Stage 1 (5-7 years), Key Stage 2 (7-11 years), and in the non-core subjects taught during Key Stage 3 (11-14 years), at which point we introduce the Cambridge Checkpoint programme in English, Maths and Science, preparing our learners for a transition to Cambridge IGCSE programmes by Year 10, for completion in Year 11 (14-16 years). Currently we do not offer a qualification for entry to university at 18 years.

Our Learners Green Shoots students are passionate, independent, lifelong learners who strive for personal improvement and understand their responsibilities as global citizens. Our Staff All foreign teachers employed by Green Shoots hold at least a Bachelor's degree in Education or a postgraduate teaching qualification, and many also hold higher education degrees and/or specializations in areas such as reading recovery, special needs teaching, or teaching English as a Foreign Language. Our classroom support staff hold either a teaching qualification or have received professional development within the school. The Job Qualifications and Experience The successful candidate will ideally possess all (or most) of the following: A Bachelor's Degree with Post-Graduate qualifications in Education, A Bachelor s or Master s Degree in Education Valid teaching certification for the UK (QTS) or registration/licensed teaching credentials from an institution teaching through the medium of English A minimum of 5 years qualified teaching experience (with a high percentage of time preferably in a similar role). Experience with Cambridge Secondary 1 and IGCSE English curriculum and examinations, with the UK s humanities curriculum and/or similar curricula in international education Qualifications and/or experience with learners whose first language is not English Core Roles and Responsibilities in addition to Teacher Commitments Plan and deliver comprehensive English curricula to classes, which may comprise a single year level or be a composite class of mixed ages Effectively differentiate learning opportunities for a range of (possible) ages, abilities and language levels Coordinate, review and develop the curriculum to ensure successful student outcomes Assess student performance regularly and in a range of ways to inform feedback to students and parents and planning of future activities for students Prepare IGCSE English students in Years 10 and 11 for external examinations and assess relevant coursework Work cooperatively with all colleagues and School Leadership Team to meet the standards and expectations of the school, based upon the school s mission and the UK s National Curriculum targets Collaborate (specifically) with French department colleague to ensure success of our bilingual History programme in Key Stage 3 (Yrs 7-9: 11 to 14-year-olds) Maintain clear, organized and meaningful planning and assessment records on a short, medium and long-term basis Participate and contribute toward personal and group professional development Communicate frequently with students and other teachers regarding the learning of students in our care Providing references, guidance and advice to senior students in regard to future study pathways and/or career opportunities Engage in planning and facilitating educational opportunities outside the classroom to engage students in authentic first-hand learning
