Event Date and Location: New Leader Circle: Next Generation Training Sessions Friday 24 th Sunday 26 th March 2017 ASB-Grünland Helmut Aurenz GmbH, Mittlerer Pfad 19, 70499 Stuttgart Audience Next Generation (NxG) members, family members from the age of 20-40 years old. We expect a higher NxG age group, since the topic is focused on leadership. We expect a total attendance of 15 NxG members. What is "NLC", the New Leader Circle? A training program offered to Next Generation (NxG) members to raise awareness on key aspects to achieve successful leadership and positive family business dynamics. Experience a new type of training that is very experiential and interactive. Learn facilitation skills and participate in small focused peer groups (Circles) tackling common challenges new Leaders face. Facilitate Next Generations deep networking and exchange of experiences in your own peer group after the training. Each trained facilitator will then be part of FBN International New Leader Circle Facilitators circle and benefit from direct and ongoing peer support. Learning Outcomes Understand key drivers of family business dynamics. David Bork is a master facilitator and original pioneer in the field of family business consulting and is one of the world s leaders in the field of family business counselling. Since 1968 he has served as an advisor to more than 450 families in business. Over the past 46 years of work with clients, he has assisted families with every imaginable family business issue, including transition between generations, death of the founder, mediation, and employment of family members just to name a few. Due to the difficult political and economic circumstances in Venezuela his family decided to sell their core family business and are pursuing new projects with a family office based in Miami, Florida. Sam Maldonado has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from The Citadel Military College of South Carolina. In 2015, Sam Maldonado completed a Masters in Family Entrepreneurship from Zeppelin University in Germany. He has been President of the Family Business Network s Next Generation Committee and is currently an active member. He sees his future in helping families prepare for the challenges of family business. This session raises the awareness on key factors that may be present in leadership and family-business dynamics. This will help participants manage and direct NLC peer groups and members discussions toward productive outcomes. Some of the topics discussed: The different styles of leadership The Leader as a Change agent Tools to further read through a family story ie: Birth order, genogram, boundaries 3
Day 2 - Acquiring facilitation skills Day two is designed to develop the participant s facilitation skills; including communication, decisionmaking, sharing-receiving feedback. Some of the topics discussed: Group s dynamic Decision making Issue solving Deep Networking and Transformational experience Throughout the two days, participants will have the opportunity to experience leadership and practice facilitation management. The training will also be a place for participants to share their personal stories, learn from peers and receive guidance from experts in the family business field. Some of the topics discussed: (Tailor-made depending on participant s profile) How to deal with hidden expectations that might arise? How to build and foster trust amongst family members? How to balance and create boundaries between private and professional life? How do I affect my peers in my personal, business and family life how do they affect me?
