Comprehensive Curriculum CUNY offers a comprehensive liberal arts education designed to create well-rounded graduates who are able to participate completely in our society. In short, our Science majors choose to take fine arts, acting, or photography classes and our aspiring artists choose from among biology, modern languages, and computer science classes. This commitment to a comprehensive core education is embodied in our Pathways Promise, through which all undergraduates across CUNY in every one of our 1,750 different academic programs complete 30 college credits of core classes that expose them to Creative Expression, Quantitative Reasoning, The Scientific Method, World Cultures and Global Issues, The Individual and Society, and The U.S Experience. When CUNY graduates leave our colleges, they are not only highly competent in their selected major but also able to converse confidently with others from different backgrounds and diverse academic disciplines. CUNY professors have won the Pulitzer Prize for poetry, become Fulbright Scholars many times, earned the prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship, and won highlyselective, multi-million dollar research grants from the National Science Foundation. And our small average class sizes mean that CUNY students get personal attention from these award-winning faculty. In fact, our professors passion for ground-breaking research is only exceeded by their passion for building a path their diverse students can follow to become powerful contributors in myriad industries.
