New Surgical Strategies for Treatment of Head and Neck Tumors: Maximizing Outcomes and Minimizing Morbidity Sunday, June 1, 2008 Hyatt Regency, Newport Beach, California A Continuing Medical Education Activity sponsored by Recognized by

Overview This one day continuing medical education conference offers specialists in oral and maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery, and otolaryngology-head and neck surgery an opportunity for examining new surgical strategies for the treatment of head and neck tumors. Faculty will address limited access and minimally invasive approaches for tumor resection and state of the art reconstruction. Emphasis will be on achieving functional and quality of life outcomes that are comparable to nonsurgical organ preservation approaches to treatment. Discussion will include surgical decision making and the prevention and management of complications. Lectures will be complemented by panel discussions that will foster collegial dialogue and debate. Target Audience This conference is designed for practicing physicians and residents specializing in oral and maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery, and otolaryngology-head and neck surgery who desire an update in the surgical management of tumors to improve patient outcomes. Objectives Upon completion of this course, the physician should be able to: 1. Delineate care algorithms for the surgical management of head and neck tumors. 2. Evaluate clinical studies and patient outcomes associated with limited access and minimally invasive approaches for tumor resection and reconstruction techniques. 3. Assess steps to prevent and manage intra- and post-operative complications. 4. Relate how advances in surgical strategies and technologies are relevant to your patient population and may improve patient outcomes.
