. Introduction to UTC Bolton University Technical College (UTC) is a new concept in education for 4-9 year olds. UTC Bolton works with the University of Bolton and businesses to design learning experiences which connect the best classroom learning with real world challenges. Students at UTC Bolton will learn in a useful and exciting way to achieve better results, preparing them for both university and employment. UTC Bolton has a specialist focus in health sciences and engineering technologies. These are strengths of the University of Bolton and reflect the knowledge and skills that employers demand. 2. Our vision and culture UTC Bolton will combine the best teaching with preparation for the world of work. Health science and engineering technology businesses are working with the University of Bolton to design courses delivery and specialist learning spaces. We will provide employer projects and work experience to bring student learning to life. All students at UTC Bolton will have their own individual learning pathway to help them achieve their best. UTC Bolton is different from a conventional school in that we are open for longer, from 08:30-7:00 Monday to Friday, with five eight week terms. Our longer teaching means we can: Help students develop personal and interpersonal skills that employers and universities look for by giving more time to clubs and sport. Guarantee students 50 days work experience every year - some of this will be in the specialist laboratories of the UTC and the University. Set aside time for homework in the school day- Achieve time. This is a proven way of helping students get better results. We will have the same general science labs found in any school for Physics, Chemistry and Biology. 3. Working Environment We are located in Bolton s Education Zone and on the University of Bolton campus in the town centre. We are close to the towns excellent bus and rail hubs and easy to get to by car. The facilities within the UTC will be world class, ensuring students are provided with the resources to study in specialist areas and excel to the highest standard. Learning areas will be provided to promote hands-on practical teaching and learning to reflect reallife working environments. State-of-the-art ICT will support teaching and learning, with a range of fixed and mobile technologies. Main Purpose UTC Bolton teachers will have a proven track record of teaching in a school or college in achieving success of highest standards in teaching, learning and subject expertise. The role holder will demonstrate a passionate commitment to providing outstanding learning opportunities in an environment of high expectations and aspirations. Teaching and learning of the highest quality for students aged 4 to 9 in an exceptional UTC that prepares students for employment and higher learning. Principal Duties and Responsibilities. Support the development of the strategic direction of the UTC 2. Ensure high standards of achievement for all students 3. Ensure an orderly, motivational and aspirational culture and a high achieving UTC 4. Provide a community where teaching, learning and entrepreneurship thrive 5. To help operationalise the educational vision and curriculum plan for the UTC 6. To assist the Head of Subject in compliance with statutory requirements in the development of young people with respect to religion, SEN, PSHE, Sports, physical, sex and relationship education 7. To assist the Head of Subject to identify opportunities in the respective subject/field using data in order to ensure achievement are outstanding 8. To help the UTC fulfil its national contractual obligations e.g. successful Ofsted compliance/outcomes, submission of reports, plans, compliance with regulations and maintenance of records 9. Therefore the successful candidate would be required to agree to waive the 48-hour week limit set out in the Working Time Regulations 998. The principal work of place will be UTC Bolton. As part of your Contract of Employment you should live within reasonable travelling time/ distance to the UTC to fulfil the requirements of the role. Confirmation of appointment to the post will be subject to a satisfactory health check. Confirmation of appointment is subject to satisfactory references. Three months from/ to the UTC to expire at the end of term. The appointment is subject to a check by the Disclosure and Barring Service in respect of any possible criminal convictions.
