Introduction Instructors can use the InSite app to assign papers within MindTap courses. Students upload their work to the MindTap course to be evaluated by their instructors. PeerMark assignments are added to the Learning Path to allow students to review their classmates papers. About the InSite App The InSite app uses the Turnitin service to enable instructors to add paper assignments to the MindTap Learning Path. IMPORTANT: For instructors and students who need to use Internet Explorer with the InSite App, the Turnitin service supports IE 8 and IE 9 only. When students submit papers, an Originality Report can display similarities to existing content. Instructors can grade submitted papers using rubrics and grading forms. About PeerMark The PeerMark assignment type enables students to review papers written by their peers, based on scale (highest/lowest) and free response questions selected by the instructor. Audience This document addresses the needs of instructors of MindTap courses who want to paper assignment activities to a course and the DSC representatives who assist them. Objectives This document introduces a reader to the following concepts: Creating InSite assignments (paper and PeerMark) in MindTap courses Editing information and assignment options Adding assignments to the MindTap Learning Path Grading assignments and editing grades Using rubrics to grade paper assignments Viewing reports instructor guide to managing paper assignments in mindtap using the insite app11 24.docx Page 3 Cengage Learning Instructors and DSCs

Grading Paper Assignments Using Rubrics Instructors can use rubrics to define criteria and scales for reviewing student work. Grading forms enable free-form feedback and scoring. If desired, instructors and administrators can create and share rubric scorecards and grading forms with other instructors. Working with Rubrics There are three types of rubric scorecards: Standard rubric Enables instructors to enter scale values and criteria percentages. The maximum value for the Standard rubric is the same as the highest scale value you enter. Custom rubric Enables instructors to enter any value into the rubric cells directly. The maximum value for the Custom rubric is the sum of the highest value entered in each of the criteria rows. Qualitative rubric Enables instructors to create a rubric with no numeric scoring. The tables in this section contain instructions for instructors on creating rubric scorecards and grading forms. Instructors cannot create a rubric at the time of assignment. However, using the Rubric Manager they can create or assign a rubric later. Creating a Rubric Follow the steps in the table to create a standard rubric scorecard: Step 1 Open the InSite App from the App dock.
