This e-mail can also be requested by writing to lilia.briel@hs-neu-ulm.de. Nominated students will receive an e-mail describing the application procedure and be able to apply online until 1 November (summer semester) and 1 May (winter semester). Language(s) of instruction Courses are either taught in German or English. Language requirements Further requirements International exchange students at the HNU should be able to understand and produce English and/or German at the level of B2 on the Common European Framework (CEF) in order to be able to integrate effectively with students from other cultural and linguistic backgrounds, and to take part in interactive lectures, giving presentations, reading academic texts at speed, and taking part in group discussions about case studies. Further information on CEF can be found here: http://www.coe.int/t/dg4/linguistic/source/framework_en.pdf International exchange students should have completed at least one year of study at their home institution (bachelor s level) and should be deemed academically qualified to successfully complete the chosen subjects at the HNU. The requirements for admission to the course have to be met. Study blocks in Business Studies, e.g.: International Business Administration International Logistics International Management and Leadership Courses taught in English Courses in Information Management: Semesters 5 and 6 are completely taught in English. Please find the course list at www.hs-neu-ulm.de/courses-inenglish (course lists according to the different departments or multidisciplinary courses) Learning German Internships and student jobs We offer three ways of learning the German language, all of them are free-of-charge: 1. Preparatory daily German language courses are held during the orientation programme. The level of the courses will be according to the level of knowledge of the participants and depends on the number of registrations. 2. Weekly German language classes are held during the semester. 3. The International office supports language partnerships between German and international students. Internships and student jobs are possible up to 120 days per year. The programme takes place two to three weeks before the general lectures start. It is strongly recommended that all exchange students take part. Information about the orientation programme: www.hs-neu-ulm.de/orientation-programme approx. 720 per month Fees and living expenses Housing Approximate expenses: 280-350 rent (monthly) 300 meals, books, local transportation (monthly) 70 fee for student service association (once per semester) 350 deposit for the dormitory (once) 20 radio and TV licence fee (monthly) 80 German Health insurance (monthly) 100 visa extension (once) We assist our exchange students in finding accommodation. Choices are local student residences or shared flats with German students. Exchange Students Families In case spouses and dependants will accompany an exchange student, HNU will take any effort to assist the exchange student with finding suitable accommodation and arranging child day care. HNU operates its own child care centre called Kinderinsel (Children s Island). Further information can be found here: https://www.hs-neu-ulm.de/en/about-us/family-andsocial-affairs/kinderinsel/. Accessibility Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) makes it possible for students and staff with disabilities or chronic illnesses to participate in courses and university life autonomously and with equal rights. With regards to accessibility, there are no restrictions at HNU s main building. HNU offers parking spaces reserved for people with disabilities, access ramps, automatically controlled doors, lifts and accessible toilets. All lecture halls, seminar rooms and computer labs as well as the cafeteria and the library are accessible. 01/2018 5

Exchange students are allowed to take course from all the departments as long as they meet the pre-requisites mentioned in the course descriptions. Students on Bachelor level are only allowed to take courses on Bachelor level (not on Master level).
