Getting qualified To become an ACCA member, you must meet the eligibility requirements which include passing exams in 14 subjects (exemptions from some subjects are available for relevant degrees), completion of an ethics module, and gaining 36 months of relevant work experience. The ACCA exams are divided into two levels: Fundamental and Professional Fundamental Levels Professionals Levels Knowledge module Essentials F1. Accountant in business P1. Governance, risk and ethics F2. Management accounting P2. Corporate reporting F3. Financial accounting P3. Business analysis Skills module Options (two to be completed) F4. Corporate and business law P4. Advanced financial management F5. Performance management P5. Advanced performance management F6. Taxation P6. Advanced taxation F7. Financial reporting P7. Advanced audit and assurance F8. Audit and assurance F9. Financial management Fundamental Levels F1 to F4 are computer based exams on demand and can be taken throughout the year. F5-F9 are computer and paper based exams. For all parts, excluding F1-F4, there are 4 examination sessions each year in March, June, September and December The pass mark for all papers is 50% Exams consist of a mixture of multiple choice, objective test and written questions Upon completing the Knowledge module, students will be awarded the ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business The Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business is awarded upon successful completion of the Skills modules. At this point students are eligible to apply for the Oxfords Brookes Bachelor s degree in Applied Accounting Students will be eligible for ACCA membership upon completion of the professional level exams which is equivalent to a Master s degree in the level of ability demonstrated. Note: Students must register themselves with ACCA in order to ensure they are able to take their exams. 4 PwC s Academy PwC
Trained by PwC Minimum entry requirements 1. Two A-levels and three GCSEs (or their equivalent) 2. These need to be in five separate subjects including English and Math s If you don t meet the minimum entry requirements, you can join the ACCA by first completing the Foundations in Accountancy (FIA) programme F1,F2,F3 papers). After completing the FIA you can then continue with the skills modules. How long does it take? The pace at which you study for your ACCA is very flexible. But there is a ten year time limit to complete the exams which starts from the date of your initial registration. You can choose how you study, how often you sit your exams and where you get your relevant practical experience. You can also choose between afternoon and evening classes. Full time students typically complete their studies in 1.5-2 years and part time students in 3-3.5 years. However this will be dependent in part on the number of exemptions awarded if you already hold a bachelor s degree. Lecturer profiles Chris Cain ACCA, ACG, NLP Chris is a director at PwC s Academy. Chris joined the Accountancy Department in the largest ACCA public sector college in the UK over 25 years ago. His first private sector lecturing work was at Reed Business School before setting up his own ACCA college in 1990 in Birmingham. Chris s college became the fastest growing ACCA college because of the unique exam and memory technique approaches developed by Chris and the exceptional pass rates achieved by his students. He has also written the syllabus for the ACCA on Business Planning and Strategy. Jenny Plumtree ACA (ICAEW), BSc. Jenny is an experienced lecturer, and senior manager in PwC s Academy with over 10 years experience in professional qualification training. Jenny s training experience is split between the UK and Middle East; working in the UK (London) for seven years and specialising in professional examination training in UK Taxation (ICAEW, ACCA, AAT, CIMA) and Case Study (ICAEW) before moving to the Middle East and continuing to deliver taxation courses for both the ICAEW and ACCA qualifications. Daniyal Tanveer ACCA, ACA (ICAEW) Daniyal is a faculty member at PwC s Academy and has over seven years of training experience. He is a motivated finance professional and a specialist lecturer for ACCA subjects including financial accounting and reporting, management accounting and tax. He is a versatile trainer and is also responsible for delivering tailor made programmes targeted at training corporate clients on financial skills such as financial statement analysis and finance for non-finance professionals. Mary Borromeo CPA Mary is a Senior Manager at PwC s Academy. Her areas of expertise include Financial Accounting and Reporting and Audit and Assurance. Mary is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a specialist lecturer for ACCA and CPA courses. Over a span of 6 years, Mary has delivered numerous trainings in assurance to several hundred candidates including external auditors and has also been actively involved in training PwC staff as a part of their learning and development. Dr. Constantine Kritsis APBM, MA, BA Dr. Constantine is a consultant and faculty member at PwC s Academy. He has extensive experience in education and professional training and development. He has delivered over 7,000 hours of professional training over the past 15 years. Within his specialist areas he has taught ACCA, CIMA, Diploma in IFRS and CIA professional qualifications and a number of MBA programmes within highly reputable Universities. Uditi Shah ACA Uditi is a faculty member of PwC s Academy. Her areas of expertise include taxation and law. She has trained hundreds of students in various professional qualifications and has taught subjects relating to direct taxation, indirect taxation, business and corporate law.
