STUDENT LANDING PAGE NAVIGATION BAR FIELD DESCRIPTION Click to view grades and attendance for the current term. Click to view grades for the previous term. Click to view attendance history for the current term. Click to view any teacher comments. Click to view the school bulletin. *Not all schools utilize this feature. View the current courses and any prerequisites. This calendar module will not be utilized in PowerSchool for MCS. Use this feature to view your schedule. This is not active for students. PRINTING PowerSchool Student Portal On the student name bar, at the far right is a printer icon. to print the current page for your records. Click this icon GRADES AND ATTENDANCE Use this page to view the grades and attendance for the current term. The legend at the bottom of the page displays the attendance codes and their meanings. GRADES HISTORY Use this page to view quarter and semester grades for the current term. As with the Grades and Attendance screen, clicking the grade in the % column will open the Class Score Detail Page. A caret (^) indicates score is exempt from final grade. An asterisk (*) indicates an assignment is not included in final grade. ATTENDANCE HISTORY Use this page to view attendance records for the current term. The legend at the bottom of the page displays the attendance codes and their meanings. TEACHER COMMENTS Use this page to view any comments that teachers entered regarding items such as achievement or behavior. Modesto City Schools Office of Instructional Technology Page 4
SCHOOL BULLETIN Use this page to view the daily/weekly school bulletin. Please be patient as many sites are not yet utilizing this feature. As the school year progresses, more and more sites will begin to use it. ACCOUNT PREFERENCES This is not available for students. QUIT POWERSCHOOL STUDENT PORTAL To sign out, click Sign Out in the upper right corner of the screen. NOTE: If you are not actively working in PowerSchool Student Portal, your session may timeout. If so, you need to log in again. POWERSCHOOL MOBILE APP SETUP APPLE ios POWERSCHOOL MOBILE STUDENT APP SETUP DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL APP 1. Go to the itunes store and search for PowerSchool Mobile. 2. Follow normal download and installation directions as for typical itune apps. 3. Return to your home screen, find the PowerSchool icon and tap it. POWERSCHOOL CONNECTION 1. The first time you launch the PowerSchool Mobile App you will need to associate your account with a specific server using a District Code. IMPORTANT NOTE: The District Code for High School is different from the District Code for grades K-8. 2. Complete the sign in with your MCS Student ID and password. ANDROID POWERSCHOOL MOBILE APP SETUP DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL APP 1. Go to the Google Play store and search for PowerSchool Mobile. 2. Follow normal download and installation directions as for typical Google Play apps. 3. Return to your homescreen, find the PowerSchool icon and tap it. POWERSCHOOL CONNECTION 3. The first time you launch the PowerSchool for Parents App you will need to associate your account with a specific server using a District Code. IMPORTANT NOTE: The District Code for High School in different from the District Code for grades K-8. 4. Complete the sign in with your MCS Student ID and password. 5. From the Dashboard you have access to grades, attendance, teacher comment exchange and much more. APP FEATURES 1. Live Feed The initial landing page after setup is the Live Feed page. This screen shows any upcoming assignments that are due for your student. Click on the blue hamburger lines to access more features. 2. Course and Assignment Details Tapping the Course/teacher box takes you to the Course Details page. This page shows details regarding overall grade, attendance and assignment details for that class. Tapping an assignment takes you to Assignment Details for that specific assignment, including due date, score and category. Modesto City Schools Office of Instructional Technology Page 6
3. GRADES There are three tabs available to view in the Grades window, Final Grades, Standards and Citizenship. The Grades tab is an overview similar to what is found on the Dashboard. The Standards tab is only used in grades K-6. The Citizenship tab will show what citizenship mark was assigned at the last reporting term. A green circle with an up arrow indicates the student s grade has improved since the last update. A red circle and arrow indicate the opposite. 4. ASSIGNMENTS The Assignments window lists all current assignments in reverse chronological order with the later due assignments at the top and most currently due assignments at the bottom. 5. ATTENDANCE Any absences or tardies shown can be tapped to show details for each entry. Attendance codes can be found at More > Settings > Attendance Codes 6. MORE The More option includes many additional features, Settings, Help Center and the Logout. The features listed will vary depending on grade level and school site.
