Subject:- Entrustment of Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) Scheme for the academic year 2014-2015 - regarding. Sir, am directed to refer to this Ministry's letter No.F.22-122007-TS. dated 18th October, 2012 and 25th February, 2013 (copies enclosed) on entrustment of DASA Scheme for the year 2012-2013 and 2013-2014, respectively, to NTK- Surathkal. 2. The Report of the DASA - 2013 was ~laced before the Council of National nstitutes of Technology (NTs) in its i meeting held on 18.10.2013 at New Delhi. The matter regarding entrustment of DASA Scheme for the year 2014-2015 was deliberated in the Council of NTs and it was decided that for the academic year 2014-2015, the DASA Scheme will be undertaken by the National nstitute of Technology Karnataka - Surathkal under the Chairmanship of Prof. Swapan Bhattacharya, Director, NTK- Surathkal. 3. The other terms and conditions for implementation of the DASA Scheme will remain same as conveyed vide this Ministry's letter No.F.22-122007-TS. dated 4th March, 2010 (copy enclosed). 4. As resolved by the Council of NTs, the selection of students for admissions in the NTs and other CFTis under DASA Scheme shall continue on the basis of SAT scores. The admission process would be through conduct of a AEEESAT type examination to ensure entry to better quality of students. The entire process would be electronic (web-based) to ensure better time- management and transparency during the admissions.. :-- From the academic year 2010-11, Ed.CL would be entrusted with the -responsibility of providin~ publicity to DASA scheme in foreign countries on -eost sharing basis. The charges~o be paid to Ed.CL for undertaking such a work would be finalized through a consultative mechanism. NTK - Surathkal and Ed.CL would jointly evolve a frame work for publicizing the DASA scheme and also generate useful templates to give authentic information to potential students. Since the responsibility for administrating the DASA scheme is;to be entrusted to NTK - Surathkal_ from 2010-2011, the eligibility criteria, fee to b~ charged and any other modifications required in the existing guidelines, will be worked out in advance, in consultation with other participating nstitutions, and same will be submitted to the Ministry of Human Resource Development by NJTK - Surathkal in time. _,...-, 2. On 'receipt of necessary inputs from NTK - Surathkal, the matter has been further examined in., the Ministry and the broad roles responsibilities for-conducting the aforesaid scheme with effect from the academic session 2010-2011 onwards have been decided in the following manner:- ' The overall responsibility of running the scheme will be with the National nstitute of Techn-ology Karnataka-Surathkal for the years 2011-2012 and 2012-2013. The proposed scheme would be taken on self-sustenance basis and no extra funds would be prqvided from this Ministry in this regard. The scheme would also suitably compensate the nstitutes involved in undertaking this activity and hence, it would not be a burden on any of the NTs. For the Academic year of 2010-11, the various tasks to be undertaken for the scheme would be as follows:- NTK's: '--- + Web-portal for application submissions, admission processing etc. +, Web-advertisement publicity; + Advertisement through papers magazines; and + - Creation of Slogs. Ed.CL's: -::--- - Joint : + Educational fairs and campaigning abroad with representatives from a few NTs. Circulating DASA admission brochures; News items Press release through consulates, embassies and high commissions; and Advertisement and publicity through reputed NGO's abroad, ndian Associates and i.
