I hope everyone has a pleasant and relaxing Spring Break!!! Mr. George, Principal Core Values March s Core Values are Effort and Determination. Upcoming Events April 14 Snow Make-up day #4 no school unless we have a weather cancellation before this date. April 17 Snow Make-up day #2 no school unless we have a weather cancellation before this date. April 27 Incoming 6 th grade Parent Night (5 th grade families) 6:30 pm April 29 Grand March and Prom Important Announcement Round two of ISTEP+ testing begins April 17 for students in grades 6-8, and 10. Please make sure that students are in school, get plenty of rest, eat breakfast, and encourage them to do his/her personal best on these assessments. MT M/HS Newsletter Page 1 of 16

Classroom and Club Connection Library with Mrs. Savage and Mrs. Lawless ID CLUB REACHES OUT... The ID Club, created last year and supervised by teacher Rebecca Flannery, wanted to make a difference in their school community. Members checked with the library to see if there were books missing from a variety of popular teen series. Creating the funds what the next step. The members sold stress balls during the lunch hour to raise the money and help students who were stressing over first semester finals. They sold over 100 balls. (back) In addition to the stress ball fundraiser, the club worked concessions during the winter. They were able to buy five books for the library this year. ID club has a dedicated bulletin board and several members passed out Valentines for the entire high school. The club meets several times a month. Art with Mrs. Braun The following students were nominated for the Arts A Budding Ceremony at Valparaiso University. Emily Rastovski, Shelby Whitaker, Tyler Cox, Lily Hanusin, Liam Hanna, Mackenzee Koselke, Sydney Moore, Bryant Ricke, Ellie Shuck, Lauren Goerl, and Violet Stewart were the eleven students chosen out of the entire Middle School student body. What an honor! You all did an amazing job! ALSO Our first Morgan Art Display at the Administration Office in Kouts is now installed. Congratulations to Ashley Jones, Hannah Bormet, Trent Hite, Abigail Thomas, Cayley Schnick, Erin Hudkins, Emily Rastovski, Grace Good, Corina Kidd, Madison Vickrey, Sian West, Karlie Lemmons, Carter Schnick, Ethan Lesko, Sydney Good, Gigi Rubarts, Jake Jaranowski, Gracie George, Brayden Mathena, Greyson Lemmons, Michael Randall, Tara Steinhilber, Emmy Wells, Caroline Rakowski, Ellie Toole, Gracie Abbett, Kylee Havlin, Liam Hanna, Ty Ivanyo, and Micah Owney. Math with Mrs. George PI DAY with Mrs. George s Geometry Classes March 14 th was perfect timing as Mrs. George s Geometry classes have just finished the Module on Arc Length and Sector Area of a Circle. Students volunteered to bring in pie and all the fixings, and as they enjoyed their treats, they measured different sizes of a plate s circumference and diameter to determine why pi measures approximately 3.14159. Their next task was to cut themselves a piece of pie and measure its central angle and radius to calculate the area of its slice, which is called the area of a sector in Geometry. After measuring and submitting their results via the Google Classroom, the students were able to enjoy their treats Happy π Day Everyone!!!! MT M/HS Newsletter Page 4 of 16

Middle School Drama Club The Morgan Township Middle School Drama Club has been hard at work preparing for the middle school production of "One Upon a Mattress". Please join us for this fun, silly and family-friendly musical! Production dates are Friday, April 7th and Saturday, April 8th. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $5/adult and $4/students & seniors! MT M/HS Newsletter Page 5 of 16

Academic Super Bowl Students pictured here participated in the PNW HS Academic Super Bowl Porter County Invitation Meet on Wed March 01, 2017. The Science, Social Studies, Math, Fine Arts, English, and Interdisciplinary teams competed against all the high schools in Porter County. Their next meet will be on Thur March 23, 2017, at Kouts High School in another invitational meet. Girls Basketball Congratulations to Aliya Hernandez, Kia Holder, Alyssa Millen, Kameron Stanko & Hannah Swivel for being named to the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Honorable Mention All-State Academic Team. Great work in the classroom! Kia Holder unanimous choice for PCC Player of the Year in girls' basketball voted vy the coaches. Kelsi Lemmons & Kameron Stanko were also all-conference in girls' basketball. Kia Holder 1st Team All-Region by NWI Times newspaper. Lemmons & Stanko were Honorable Mention. Science with Mrs. Dippo ICP students are working at different stations learning about Newton's 3 laws of motion. Trenton is measuring speed of the "car". Sarah & Megan (not pictured) brought in their roller blades for a demonstration. Jacob is contemplating how he is going to make the pin drop into the hole under the hoop. Key Club The MT Key Club had the wonderful opportunity to help serve at the annual Kiwanis Club Pancake Breakfast Saturday March 11. The Key Club members spent their Saturday morning selling raffle tickets and coffee as well as washing dishes and making sure supplies were replenished so the community could have an enjoyable breakfast.
