FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING & AUDITING 1 year Executive Certificate Program in FROM XLRI Program Objective The primary objective of the programme is to enable participants to obtain practical insights into the application & impact of the Indian Accounting Standards on financial reporting, audit, internal control, and other financial processes in organizations. The program is designed with a unique structure comprising of a Core Module and an Advanced Module. This structure has been designed to take into consideration the varied background of the participants and ensuring a smooth and enriched learning experience in the program. A short quiz covering the fundamentals of accountancy and business finance shall be administered prior to the commencement of the program. Participants who obtain the cut-off score for the program shall gain direct entry into the Advanced Module. Participants who are unable to obtain the cut-off score shall be required to attend both the Core Module and the Advanced Module to complete the programme. The Core Module shall cover the fundamental concepts in financial accountancy, cost accountancy, and business finance whose knowledge and understanding is critical to obtain an enhanced understanding of the advanced topics. The Advanced Module is the core of the program and has been designed to fill a significant gap in the alternatives available to finance and audit professionals for continuing upgradation of their skills. The key topics that will be covered include the Ind-AS, Auditing & Control Mechanisms. The program also has special modules dedicated to applying Cost Audits, Internal Audits, and Statutory Audits for maintaining effective control over the activities and processes of an organization.

Program Faculty Dr. Ram Kumar Kakani B. Tech (Andhra Univ.), FPM (IIM Calcutta) Dr. Kakani has been associated with XLRI, Jamshedpur for past 16 years. He started his career as a technocrat in the corporate world for three years. He then moved towards the academic sector with focus on aspects related to Finance-Performance-Strategy trilogy at the IIM Calcutta. He has worked as a residential academic scholar at Denmark, Nigeria, Singapore and UAE. His areas of interests include Accounting and Financial Analysis, Corporate Finance and Corporate Strategy. Prof. Sabyasachi Sengupta CA, CS, CWA Prof. Sengupta has been associated with XLRI, Jamshedpur for over 2 decades now. His stint with XLRI has made him an extremely popular and respected finance faculty. He was chairperson (finance area) for 9 years. He has experience working in academic sector as well as corporates like Tata Steel. His areas of interest include Financial Analysis, Corporate Taxation and Mergers, Acquisitions and Restructuring. Dr. Santoshkumar Sangem FPM (IIM Calcutta), CA, CFA, M. Com Dr. Sangem has been associated with XLRI, Jamshedpur since 2009. He has been a faculty of finance at Indian and International campus as well. He has provided training to Indian corporates, to name a few, Accenture, Capgemini, L&T, Madura, NHPC, NTPC, and Viacom18. His areas of interest include Accounting, Financial Analysis, Management Control Systems, Bank Management, Financial Markets, and Corporate Finance. Eligibility To be eligible for this program, the participants must have a background education in a finance/accounting related discipline. This would include professionals such as Chartered Accountants, Cost Accountants, Company Secretaries, MBA s (with a specialization in Finance), and other Post-Graduate Professional Qualifications in Finance. Semi-qualified professionals who have completed the intermediate stage of their qualifications and Graduates/Post-Graduates in Finance Related Disciplines (e.g. B. Com, M. Com) can also apply. In addition to the background education requirements above, the participants must also have a minimum work experience (including practice) of three years in the accounting, auditing, compliance, or corporate finance domains.

Pedagogy The classes for this programme will be through LIVE lectures that will be beamed online via internet to student desktops/laptops or classrooms using Talentedge s Direct To Device platform. The pedagogy will comprise of lectures and case discussions imparted by XLRI s eminent faculty. Select industry experts would also be included to provide practical insights. This program follows a unique pedagogy in its treatment and coverage of the Ind-AS. For each Ind-AS covered in the program, contents of the standard, its requirements from financial reporting, audit, internal control point of view, and their implications for corporate financial decision making shall be dealt with. In addition to the highly experienced and reputed faculty of XLRI covering the program, a significant number of sessions will be handled by practicing industry experts. This will give the participants an enriched insight into practical considerations related to the topics covered. Assessment Prerequisites for obtaining a certificate of completion are 80% attendance and completion of evaluation assignments. Participants who have attendance between 60%-80% and have completed the evaluation assignments shall receive a certificate of participation. The evaluation assignments maybe in the form of a quiz, assignment or other objective/subjective assessments. In case a participant is required to attend the Core Module, the prerequisites shall be considered for the Core Module and advanced module combined. No separate certificate shall be provided to a participant who has completed only the Core Module. Participants may also opt for a direct entry into the Advanced Module. However, the participant will be required to clear an online assessment to qualify for direct enrolment into the Advanced Module.
