GENERAL RULES All levels of Bible Quizzing will be conducted according to the policy herein contained. All decisions will be based on a spirit of fairness and Christian love, in an effort to foster the unity of the saints in the bond of peace. Final decisions will be made by the appointed Host/Quizmaster in charge of the tournament in consultation with other appointed officials. ELIGIBILITY Quizzers must be registered attendees at Apostolic Camp International (ACI) 2015. OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT RULES The tournament will: 1. Be held on Wednesday afternoon and Friday morning of ACI 2015. 2. Comprise of two rounds, round one for placement qualifications and round two for the finals. Round two of the tournament will resemble a Traditional style of Bible Quiz. ROUND ONE- THE DUET CHALLENGE: Competition: Teams will consist of two individuals, one being under 30 years old and the other within the age range of 30 years and older. No substitutions are allowed during any game. Each team will be positioned at the designated area identified by the tournament officials. Teams will face the audience and each quizzer will be given a hand-held buzzer which will be used as responding mechanism throughout the tournament. Each team will be labeled with their team name. At the start of each match, the quizzers will be required to introduce themselves to the officials and the audience. This round will consist of two games and each game is divided into two (2) sections. The game will last for duration of 25-30 minutes. Below are details for each section: 1. Section 1 a. One team member from each team will be removed from the stage to an area where he/she is not able to hear the Quizmaster. b. The Quizmaster will then ask each of the remaining team members a series of five questions individually while the judges record their answer. c. Once the Quizmaster is through asking the questions, the team member from each team that was previously removed will be asked to return to the stage where he/she will be asked the same questions that were previously posed to their teammate.

d. The quizzer questioned is required to give the same or similar answer to that of their teammate. A point is awarded when the answers match and are correct. e. Once the quizmaster is through asking the questions the second time. The process will be repeated and the quizzers will exchange roles. f. Each correct answer will be awarded five (5) points. 2. Section 2 a. Each team is required to nominate one person to answer the questions in this section. b. The persons nominated will be allotted time of 90 seconds to answer as many questions as possible from a pool of 30 questions without conferring with his/her teammates. c. In the event that a quizzer is unable to answer a question, he/she may say pass. If a quizzer attempts a question and gets the answer wrong, he/she will lose two (2) points, the timer will be suspended and the opposing team will be given an opportunity to answer the question. The opposing team members may confer while attempting to answer the question. If the opposing team gets the answer correct, they will be awarded half of the point value of the question. They will not lose any points if they attempt the question and get it wrong. Once the question is answered by the opposing team, the timer will resume and the quizzer may continue answering the questions. d. Each correct answer will be awarded five (5) points. At the end of section 2, the team that has the most points will be awarded winners and will qualify for a respective placement in round two of Apostolic Bible Challenge. Types of Questions: A. Multiple Choices A question that offers several possible answers. Quizzer is required to select the most appropriate answer. B. Visual/Images A question with a graphical demonstration or visual aid. C. Quotations - A question that requires an exact and absolute quotation from the King James Version of the Bible.

Answering: Each team is given 3 seconds to buzz in the sections that require the use of a buzzer and 8 seconds to answer the question. Points are awarded for each correct answer. In section 2, two (2) points are deducted for each wrong answer. An answer is deemed correct if the answer provided is exactly the same or bears the essence as the answer recorded on the Quizmaster s answer sheet. ROUND TWO-Traditional Quizzing Competition: Teams will consist of five individuals, two individuals from the previous round along with three additional team members. No substitutions are allowed during any game. Each team will positioned at the designated area identified by the tournament officials. Teams will face the audience and each quizzer will be given a hand-held buzzer which will be used as the responding mechanism throughout the tournament. Each team will be labeled with their team name. At the start of each match, the quizzers will be required to introduce themselves to the officials and the audience. This round will consist of one game and is divided into two (2) sections. The game will last for a duration of 25-30 minutes. Below are details for each section: Section 1 Conferring Section: Teams will be allowed to interact with respective team members in order to determine an answer for each question. Each team will be given five (5) questions; these questions may be answered by any team member or all members of the team. No interruption is needed in this section as the question is designated to each team. The first answer heard by the Quizmaster or judges will be considered. Teams are advised to carefully listen to each question before attempting to answer. A team will be awarded points if the answer is correct, if the answer is incorrect the question will not be reread for the opposing team and the question will be closed. Section 2 Individual Section: Teams will not be allowed to confer with each other, if this is done five (5) points will be deducted from the team score. A total of ten (10) questions will be directed to the quizzers and the quizzer that first responds with the buzzer will be

required to answer the question after being acknowledged. Quizzers will be given thirty (30) seconds to complete an answer once they have been acknowledged and will be awarded points if the answer is correct. If the answer is incorrect, 50% of the point value will be deducted from that quizzer s individual and team score. If the question was interrupted, the question will be reread for the benefit of the other quizzers and no interruption is allowed. No points will be deducted if a quizzer attempts to answer a reread question. Answering 1. The first quizzer to press the buzzer will be given the opportunity to answer the question. Quizzers will have 5 seconds to respond to a question. If no response is given within 5 seconds, the Timekeeper calls Time and the question will be closed. Once the quizzer is identified by an Official, they will have 30 seconds to complete the answer. The quizzer must wait to be identified before answering. If a quizzer fails to wait until identified he/she would have committed a foul. 2. Correct answers will score the full point value for the question. However incorrect answers will result in a negative full point value for the question. If no answer is given after responding by pressing the buzzer the answer will be ruled incorrect and points deducted. 3. If the officials cannot identify who is first between two or more quizzers responding, one quizzer will answer publicly and all others privately. Correct Answers An Answer is correct when: 1. The Quizmaster and Judges rule it as such according to the official guidelines. 2. The information given is accurate and complete and within the time allotted. 3. The quotation is precisely as written in the King James Version of the Bible or designated study material. The quizzer is allowed to restart his/her answer providing he/she indicates that to the officials; this ONLY applies to quotation questions. 4. It contains the essence of the information asked for, except for quotation type questions. 5. The first information given is accepted (as opposed to incorrect information followed by an attempted correction) excluding quotation questions as explained above. 6. Any additional information does not change the essence of the answer given.

7. Mispronounced words or names are still recognizable as the answer requested. Incorrect Answers An answer is incorrect when: 1. The information given is inaccurate or incomplete when the time allotted has elapsed. 2. The quotation is not exactly as found in the King James Version of the study or the provided Study Booklet, including the order of the words and plural endings. If there is considerable doubt about what was actually said, the quizzer should be given the benefit of the doubt. 3. The officials have to decipher the essence of the answer given; the information provided is not straightforward and clear. 4. The first answer heard is incorrect except for quotation questions (see paragraph (c) in previous section.) 5. The quizzer offers information in the answer that changes the essence of the information given. 6. In the opinion of the judges the answer given was not what was requested. Interruption 1. An interruption occurs if a quizzer uses the buzzer to signal an answer before the question is completely read by the quizmaster. In the event this occurs, interruption is called and the quizzer is identified. The quizzer after being identified should provide the answer to the question in the allotted time. If the quizzer is unable to provide the answer, then 50% of the point value will be deducted. The question will then be reread for the opposing team and no interruption is allowed. If the question is interrupted while it is being reread then the question will be closed and two (2) points deducted from that team. 2. Quotation Completion Questions should not be interrupted. In the event the question is interrupted, then that quizzer will be charged with a foul. The question will then be reread for the opposing team and no interruption is allowed, if the question is interrupted a second time then the question will be closed and two (2) points deducted from that team. 3. If opposite team member(s) happen to respond at the same time on an interruption, the question will be voided and replaced.

Point value of Questions The official quiz match will consist of twenty (20) questions, each having the following point values assigned to them: Questions 1 to 4 ten (10) points Questions 5 to 8 twenty (20) points Questions 9 to 10 thirty (30) points Questions 11 to 15 twenty (20) points Questions 16 to 20 thirty (30) points In the event that overtime becomes necessary, three questions will be allotted at twenty (20) points each. Types of Questions 1. Direct Question - A question that does not have multiple parts and does not require an exact and absolute quotation. 2. Quotation Question A question that requires an exact and absolute quotation from the King James Version of the Bible. 3. Quotation Completion Question - The quotation completion question calls for the completion of a quotation from the Bible. The response must be an exact quotation from the King James Version of the Bible. 4. Two-Part/Three-Part/Four-Part/Multiple-Part Question - These questions have several sections assigned to them and must be answered accordingly. 5. Cross Reference Question - A cross reference question calls for information from two or more verses of study. TIE-BREAKER In the event that both teams tie at the end of the twenty (20) questions, an overtime period of three (3) twenty (20)-point questions will be allotted. If a tie results after this then one (1) twenty (20)-point question will be given to determine the winner. CHAMPIONS The tournament is divided into two (2) rounds. The winning teams of each game in round 1 will compete in round 2 to determine the first and second place winners. The two losing teams from each game in round 1 will compete against each other to determine the Third place winner in round 2.

As a special feature of Apostolic Bible Challenge 2015, the team that is crowned as the champions will be required to compete against a team of ACI staff members for bragging rights. Once the game is through and the winning team is decided, the losing team is required to take an ice/dunk water challenge on the Friday night of ACI during our Block Party. FOUL A foul either occurs when a quizzer answers before being identified or when a quotation question is interrupted by a quizzer. Once charged with a foul two (2) points will automatically be deducted from both the quizzer s individual s score and team score. A foul is only applicable in section 2. OFFICIALS The following is a list of the Officials required in a tournament: 1 Host/Quiz Master: The Quiz Master is the official who asks all questions in the Bible quiz competition and is responsible for all proceedings during the tournament. The Quiz Master should confer with the judges if there are any doubts. 2 Judges: The judges are responsible for determining whether an answer is correct; where there are doubts, they are allowed to check the Bible to aid in the final decision. 2 Time Keepers: The timekeeper is responsible for ruling in all matters pertaining to time limits. The timekeeper calls Time to inform everyone that a particular time period has elapsed. 3 Score Keepers: The Scorekeepers are responsible for tabulating the team scores accumulated during the tournament. There are always more than one score keepers to ensure that the final results are correct. 1 Buzzer Operator: The buzzer operator is responsible for operating the electronic buzzer system and identifying the quizzer to answer. The buzzer operator clears the buzzer system immediately before each question is asked.
