What skills will help you to set objectives, enhance motivation and give effective feedback? How can you best adapt your leadership style to each of your group members? Does the way in which you communicate have a positive influence on your group? If you are seeking answers to these and other questions, this course will help you improve your leadership skills and interaction with your group in a way that will support the productivity of your laboratory and of its individual members.
OBJECTIVES > Explore the key competencies needed to enhance your leadership skills in an academic environment. > Gain a better understanding of your communication style and its impact on group members. > Gain a better understanding of how to motivate individual group members. > Give positive and constructive feedback. PARTICIPANTS > This course is designed for Professors who are responsible for leading groups. > An individual profile will be established through an online questionnaire to be filled in before the course and a report will be distributed to each participant during the course. METHODS > This training session presents a number of communications, feedback and motivational models and provides many opportunities to practice skills and share experience.

They are therefore taken together and only offered by the STS this day. EPFL, Building BI, Room of the Staff Training Service. A certificate will be delivered to participants who have attended the whole training.
TRAINER Anne-Marie Turcotte has extensive experience in the development and delivery of training programs, specializing in cross-cultural groups in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia, for multinational corporations. She was a Partner and Director of Learning for DOORSmarts Switzerland and is Master Trainer in a number of programs. Anne-Marie has been Advisor to Executive level Canadian and French public servants and has international experience in cultural and academic exchanges at Canadian Embassies in France and in Mexico and in the negotiation of bilateral and multilateral agreements. Anne-Marie also works as a consultant, mediator and coach at the management and director levels. Anne-Marie is fluently bilingual in French and English and fluent in Spanish. She is Canadian and French, lives in Lausanne, Switzerland, is a graduate of the prestigious Ecole Nationale d Administration (France) and has a Master degree from Carleton University (Canada).
