Cambridge IGCSE IGCSE - International General Certificate of Secondary Education Excellent preparation for advanced study. Assessment options for learners of different abilities. Internationally recognised qualifications. Cambridge IGCSE is accepted as equivalent to GCSE in the UK Cambridge IGCSE provided me with the challenges I needed to prepare myself for the next stage in my life. Zaid Osama Ahmad Taha, former Cambridge IGCSE student, Al Ansar International School, Sharjah

IGCSE AT A GLANCE The IGCSE program begins in Grade 9 and is completed at the end of Grade 11. (3 years of IGCSE ) This provides students with sufficient time to prepare for the final IGCSE examinations at the end of Grade 11. So why don t we offer IGCSE in 2 years at Al Ansar International School? Because International Standard of the Universities demand 12 years of School Education for further studies, so to meet that level we offer IGCSE in Grade-11 and AS/A-Level in Grade-12.

IGCSE AT A GLANCE IGCSE FINAL EXAMINATIONS CIE conducts IGCSE exams in 2 series per academic year. Series 1 May/June (Registration in January) Series 2 Oct/Nov (Registration in June) Pay the Examination Fees(per subject) at the time of Registration (not included in annual school fees).

IGCSE AT A GLANCE IGCSE ADDITIONAL SUBJECTS The students who want to appear for additional subjects can write their exams in the Oct / Nov series also. School provides extra classes for the Speaking Test of Foreign Language Arabic as per the given condition: A minimum of 5 students should register for the additional subjects like Practical & Oral exams.

IGCSE AT A GLANCE The current Gr 11 students will sit for the final IGCSE exams in the May/June, 2018 series. All the students must appear in 6 IGCSE subjects being offered at the school. Ministry of Education will only attest the IGCSE certificate for a minimum of 5 subjects in one certificate. We STRONGLY discourage students who seek to drop subjects.

IGCSE AT A GLANCE COMPLETION OF SYLLABUS Grade 9 (1 st Year of IGCSE) Grade 10 (2 nd Year of IGCSE) Grade 11 (3 rd Year of IGCSE) 30% of IGCSE Syllabus. The students will be evaluated on the entire years portion in the Final Examination. Passing Percentage is 50%. 45% of IGCSE Syllabus. The students will be evaluated on the portion of Gr-9 & 10. In other words, students will complete 75% of the IGCSE syllabus by the end of Grade 10. Passing Percentage is 50%. 25% of IGCSE Syllabus. The Grade 11 students will be evaluated on the portion of Gr- 9, 10 & 11 in the First Term Exams. For registering in Extended Subjects, a mark of 60% is required in the First Term Exams.

IGCSE AT A GLANCE COMPLETION OF SYLLABUS Accounting / Business Studies / Economics Grade 10 (2 nd Year of IGCSE) Grade 11 (3 rd Year of IGCSE) 65% of IGCSE Syllabus. The students will be evaluated portion of Gr -10 at the end of year. Passing Percentage is 50%. 35% of IGCSE Syllabus. on the The Grade 11 students will be evaluated on the portion of Gr -10 & 11 in the First Term Exams. For IGCSE exam registration, a mark of 60% is required in the First Term Exams.

SUBJECTS IN GR. 11 Science Stream English Computer Science Mathematics Physics Chemistry Biology Commerce Stream English Computer Science Mathematics Accounting Economics Business Studies Ministry Subjects Arabic Religion

Why we don t offer COMMERCE subjects in Gr. 9 Maturity level not yet adapted for the commerce subjects? In Gr 9 the students are undertaking 3 separate subjects of sciences. (Gr 8 Combined). Eliminates confusion and gives the student some time to decide which field to pursue.

What are some of the minimum IGCSE subjects required? Universities require a minimum of 6 subjects for entry. Some countries require a minimum of 8 IGCSE subjects for university entry. In addition to the 6 subjects offered at the school, students can take an additional 2 subjects either in Gr. 10 or Gr. 11. OCT / NOV or MAY / JUNE Exam Series. Advisable for students to write the 2 subjects in different series. Very difficult for students to write 8 subjects in 1 series!

List of additional subjects offered: 1) First Language Arabic / Foreign Language Arabic 2) Environmental Management 3) Sociology 4) Travel & Tourism 5) Etc. Full list of subjects available on the CIE website.
