EMAIL COMMUNICATIONS: Email is generally the best way to get in touch with me, and I will try to answer emails within 24 hours Monday - Friday. If you do not receive a response from me within 48 hours, please send me another email, with 2nd request in subject line. My goal is to help you be successful in this course and in your career, and I will try to make every effort to assist you. GRADING, EVALUATION AND ATTENDANCE POLICIES: First Exam 100 points Second Exam 100 points Third Exam 100 points Quizzes 130 points Attendance 45 points Homework in MyAccountingLab 55 points Written Homework 55 points Total Points Available 585 points Note: The +, - system will not be used in this course and no curves will be given. The professor reserves the right to modify the point allocation including adding or taking away assignments if necessary. A = 90%-100% C = 70%-79% F = < than 60% B = 80%-89% D = 60%-69% EXAMS: There will be three scheduled exams (3 rd exam given during finals week). Exams will be comprised of a combination of question formats including multiple choice, true/false, short answer and problems. Exams are given during schedule class hours only. Exams will test the knowledge of the material covered in the textbook, class lectures, handouts and the students ability to analyze problems. All work must be shown to get partial credit. All books, notes, cell phones, and other personal belongings should be left at the back of the class. A simple calculator (one not containing uniquely programmed instructions) may be used on the exams (no cell phones). No talking is permitted once the exam has begun. Generally, no make-ups will be permitted. If there is a valid reason (validity to be determined by the Instructor) where it is necessary to miss an exam, written evidence will be required to support the reason prior to the exam date. Make-ups will only be given if the student received advance approval from the Instructor. Generally, missed exams must be made up within a week of the originally scheduled exam. Make-ups will be scheduled at the convenience of the Instructor. After Exams are graded, the Instructor may not have time to review the entire exam with the class due to the amount of material that must be covered. You will have opportunity to see exam, however you may come to the instructor s office during office hours and review your exam more thoroughly. If you believe that there has been a grading error, it is your responsibility to notify your instructor. In no case will tests be regraded after that time. QUIZZES: There will be 12 quizzes given throughout this semester, based on the reading and lecture materials, and homework. Each quiz is worth ten points. Timed 15 minute quizzes, approximately 10 questions per chapter. Quizzes will be administered using Canvas with a deadline before the start of the next class (Thursday at 2pm). Once you open the quiz, the quiz will be timed with one try and you will only have 15 minutes to complete and must complete it once it is launched. NO MAKE-UP quizzes will be given, no exceptions. HOMEWORK: In this class, the homework is very important to understanding the material. The best way to learn accounting is to do it. I will be assigning homework for every chapter in two formats: MyAccountingLab Homework: The online homework will be open until the start of our next class. After the due date, you will not be able to submit the assignment for points. To receive all points you must get at least a 75% and complete homework assigned. There will be 55 points assigned to My Accounting Lab homework. ACG 2021 Sec. 521 Fall 2016 2

Textbook Written Homework: The textbook written homework must be prepared by hand. To receive points, students will be asked to show the Instructor their completed homework at the start of the class. There will be 55 points assigned to Written Homework. The homework assignments have due dates as listed in the syllabus. The required readings should be read BEFORE each class and all assigned homework should be completed BEFORE we review in class (to receive points). Homework will only be accepted in class on the due date, no exceptions you must attend class to receive credit for written homework. CLASS ATTENDANCE: There will be 45 attendance points awarded throughout the semester. Class attendance is imperative for success in ACG 2021. Points for homework (textbook written) and attendance are only available if you attend class. No exceptions, if you do not attend you will not receive any points for attendance (nor homework points). If you leave early you will not receive credit. CLASS FORMAT: During class we will discuss homework or other questions, brief lecture over new material, work as a class through new problems material, break into small groups to work problems, and then discuss. You will benefit from the class discussion and group work; it is likely when you don t understand a concept others feel the same. Working through problems is necessary to be successful in this course. COMPUTER LAPTOP USE: USFSM requires all students to have laptops that can be brought with them to class. Use of other devices (including laptops) for purposes other than the current topic of class discussion is extremely disruptive to your fellow students and to me. It also diverts your attention from class. Laptop computers and other devices may be used to take notes. They should not be used to access the Internet, to play games, to work on documents unrelated to this class, etc. Please put your cell phones on silent mode. Please do not text incessantly or play games in class. I reserve the right to inspect all electronic equipment used in class, as well as to ask that use be discontinued. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS: Feel free to tape lectures, but tapes and lecture notes may not be sold. All supplementary material represents intellectual capital property of the Instructor and may not be copied or sold without the express permission of the Instructor. GRADING PROCEDURE AND DISCLOSURE: Due to confidentiality issues, grades will not be released via email or telephone. Grades will be posted on Canvas. Any student wishing to view his/her exam during office hours should email in advance requesting such appointment. EXAM RETENTION: I retain exams for a period of two weeks after the next semester begins, and I destroy them after then. Any questions about your grade must be raised before I destroy the exams. INCOMPLETE: Under university policy, an "I" grade may be awarded only when a small portion of a student's work is incomplete due to circumstances beyond his or her control and s/he is otherwise earning a passing grade. "I" grades are to be used only in emergency situations, and never as a means of avoiding a poor grade. Please do not ask for an "I" under any other circumstances. GRADE FORGIVENESS: Grade forgiveness is limited to three USF courses, with no more than one repeat per course. Accounting majors may use the forgiveness policy only once in upper level accounting courses. S/U GRADES: This course may not be taken on an S/U basis. Drop Date: No W grades can be obtained after the official drop date October 29, 2016 as posted by the University and posted in Oasis. All students enrolled after the drop date will receive a grade of A, B, C, D, or F. CELL PHONES: To avoid class disruptions, please place phones/tablets in mute or off modes. Academic Dishonesty: The University considers any form of plagiarism or cheating on exams, projects, or papers to be unacceptable behavior. Academic Disruption: The University does not tolerate behavior that disrupts the learning process. Please review USF System Regulation USF3.025 Disruption of Academic Policy. C.
