1 Meet Your Accountant Favorite Color: Green!!!! Career Focus: Student Affairs Major: Bachelors of Business Administration - Accounting Resident Assistant Mark was given this position Fall 2014 and continues to be there for students today. He is responsible to be there for over 40 residents as well as put on various programs through-out the year to better the college experience of his residents. The door to Mark s room is always open where he sees his residents walk by as they call his name. They are always greeted by Mark with a smile on his face and shouting their name. National Residence Hall Honorary Vice President of Administration Elected to this position Winter 2015 this job is no small task. His position requires that he work with a team of five people to run the organization with programming, volunteering, and recognition. In addition, he is responsible for the budget and managing fundraising projects. 3 2
More Than Numbers RHA Mark has been an active member in RHA since he started attending Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU). This past year he was the budget chair for the Cardinal Leadership Conference,CLC, which was a SVSU based conference; which won Program of The Year at MORHA 2015. Mark then continued to strive for greatness by becoming the GLACURH 2015 Finance and Sponsorship chair. Living Leadership Program Living Leadership Program, LLP, is a living learning community where the residents live with one another in a designated area in a resident hall. Mark s job is to demonstrate and teach leadership skills and qualities to over 20 students. This is done by planning weekly lessons about how to improve effective communication, conflict management, study habits, and confidence. This year Mark has taken on the positon in LLP where he encourages leadership not only on campus but off campus as well through events such as Saginaw s Old Town soup kitchen. 4 3
More Than Numbers Cont. Hall Council Advisor Mark was always a positive, outgoing, asset to the resident hall council that he advised. Influencing over 23 council members to think outside of the box and get more community involvement. This council went on to organize over 40 programs, each was designed to better the living community of resident hall students. The hard work and dedication that was done by Mark and the council was recognized at the end of the year by receiving the Council of The Year award from RHA. Research Assistant - College of Business Saginaw Valley State University Not only did Mark work on improving and inspiring those around him; he also worked on improving himself. Starting in Winter 2015, Mark helped build an alumni database for the College of Business. This required a lot of time and attention to the small detail, he is required to verify addresses, phone numbers, connecting the database with social media, and working with the Associate Dean to effectively communicate needs. 5 4

In his position Mark had to help organize check in cedure, meet often for site, and communicate with delegates ing Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. The MORAH Conference successful in bringing over100 delegates to Central Michigan The planning process of conferences is nothing new to Mark s list of skills. In 2015 he was the social media chair for MORHA, held at Central Michigan University, where he shared all the excitement of leadership with other students. The on campus conference held in November, CLC, Mark took on the Finance Chair position. Not only working with finances Mark spoke on behalf of SVSU at No Frills 2015. He has only increased his activity with conferences by taking on the position of Fundraising and Sponsorship Chair for GLACURH 2015 which is at Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU). In this position he successfully gathered a committee of six RHA members and instantly began the fundraising process. As of Oct 15th this committee has planned several fundraisers and reached the established goal of $10,000. The hard work and leadership by Mark is shown, in direct correlation, with the amount of money that his committee has gathered. Let s just say the Accountant knows how to get that money! In Spring 2015 he was presented with the Ignite Award, this is a brand new award that was created for a RA that brings an energy, passion and a burn to make their resident hall a better place. This person ignites the passion within themselves and within the people around them to make SVSU a better to live and grow! Mark could not be any more fit for this award, due to how he inspires people to do their best and to always think of what positives can happen from a negative. Continuing to inspire people everywhere he goes in life. The most recent award Mark has been presented is RHA member of the month for September. He was nominated for the award, anonymously, from a general assembly member, Mark was then chosen by the executive board to receive the award. He never ceases to go above the expectations set before him. 7 6
