It provides a British style education for an international student body. With over 620 students The British International School Bratislava represents 45 nationalities with approximately 54% European, 29% Asian/Pacific, and 17% from other countries. is an IB World School authorised to deliver the IB Diploma programme as well as the Cambridge International Examinations IGCSE. The British International School Bratislava is registered with the Department for Education (DfE) in the UK as an overseas school. The British International School Bratislava is also accredited by the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic and it is included into the network of schools and educational facilities of the Slovak Republic. Service learning is embedded in the curriculum and all students in Years 7-10 and 12 are required to undertake a residential week of service within local, provincial and international communities. This is complemented by weekly participation in local service clubs which run throughout the year. In Years 12 and 13 IB students are further required to take a leadership role in organising and running the local service clubs. IB Students also serve as a committee member to generate an awareness campaign for their chosen activity week project. This results in our students developing an acute sense of social responsibility towards other people and the environment on both a local and global scale. school profile 2014/2015 Curriculum and Results delivers a curriculum that is both stimulating and challenging providing a broad and balanced education that is essential in preparing students for the future. The National Curriculum for England forms the framework of the educational programme from Kindergarden to Year 9 ( 8).Students then progress to the Cambridge IGCSE in Years 10 and 11( s 9 and 10) producing impressive results,comparable to top schools around the. We provide the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB) in Years 12 and 13 (s 11 and 12). The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, cultural understanding, research skills and service learning. The IB Diploma scoring system is rated from 1 (poor) to 7 (excellent) with a total of 45 points from 6 subjects including a bonus 3 points from the Extended Essay of 4000 words and a Theory of Knowledge course. In 2013, 61,519 candidates were entered for the IB Diploma, 357 students wide achieved 44 points and 154 achieved 45 points.
