In order to request initial credit (the student has never tried to take the course previously) for an Individual course, a student must exhibit proficiency on or beyond the level required for all students In the following ways: Teacher recommendation (former or current) of the subject being considered for Initial credit Have criterion referenced or norm referenced test scores that support at or above grade level proficiency of content In the subject being considered Completion of the attached form Students will have two options for taking advantage of Initial credit during the summer: Credit Advancement: The student takes the preassessments for each standard In Compass Learning and earns a comprehensive average of 80 on those assessments. The score earned becomes the grade for the course that appears on the transcript. It is the responsibility of the school to inform the student that the NCAA may not recognize Credit Advancement for course credit. Full-Course Experience: Summer Initial credit courses will be delivered In-person or virtually. Jefferson County School District Summer 2017 Initial Credit Request Form School Name: Student Name: Course Requested for Initial credit: I have obtained the recommendation of one of my former or current teachers of the subject being considered for initial credit, and my high school counselor has documented my above average ability through a review of my performance on state and national assessments of achievement. Credit Advancement Option Credit Advancement occurs when students take a comprehensive assessment for a course and earn an 80 or above on the assessment. If students make an 80 or above, they will earn credit for the course. The score on the assessment becomes the grade in the course. Students may do this for up to only two courses in high school. The assessment can only be taken once. NCAA-eligible students cannot use the Credit Advancement option. Students may elect to attempt the credit advancement option. If they do not make an 80 or better, they will remain in initial credit for summer school to complete the work they did not master in order to receive credit for the course. I would like to attempt credit advancement for the above named course: QYES QNO I understand that the course is being delivered In a blended learning environment, therefore I must be a motivated, self-regulated learner and display the ability to work and succeed in this type of learning environment.
