HARI OM! The Chinmaya Movement encompasses many charitable, educational and cultural activities, such as Vidyalayas, Hospitals, Pitamaha Sadans and others. These are organized and run by Chinmaya Mission centres across the country and abroad, and the beneficiaries include people from all walks of life irrespective of their caste, creed, colour or religion. Chinmaya Vidyalaya is one such institution aimed at training the young children in a congenial atmosphere to bring out the best in them and help them to imbibe the rich cultural heritage of the country. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Thrissur was established in 1979 to perpetuate the ideas of H. H. Swami Chinmayananda and His Vision of "Catching them young". The goal of this temple of learning is to produce successful and cultured members of society, having a sound knowledge of the rich heritage of our glorious nation. The aim of Chinmaya Vidyalaya is not only to provide quality education to our children but also to provide them with maximum opportunities in co-curricular, cultural and literary activities. Our school caters to students mainly belonging to the middle income group. The children of this school imbibe desirable qualities through the Chinmaya Vision Programme. This programme aims at the all round development of the child's personality. It stresses the importance of Integrated Development, Indian culture, Patriotism and Universal Outlook. The concept of Integrated Development emphasizes the physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual development of the child. TRANSPORT Vidyalaya vehicles are available both ways on the routes they are operating. Details can be collected from the Vidyalaya Office. CHINMAYA BALANIKETAN Chinmaya Balaniketan is a residential home away from home. The hostel is situated in the Vidyalaya campus. Limited accommodation is available for boys and girls from standard I onwards upto XII standard. Details are given in the Chinmaya Balaniketan Prospectus. Transport facilities to coaching classes are available exclusively for residential students. 3
CHINMAYA RULES 1. Principal reserves the right to remove/dismiss a child on grounds of irregular attendance, disobedience to teachers, quarrel between children, any kind of malpractice or objectionable behaviour inside or outside the campus. 2. Children suffering from contagious or infectious diseases will not be allowed to attend the class. 3. Parents seeking information or desiring to give representation, complaints, suggestions, if any, shall do so to the Principal only and not to the class teachers during school hours. 4. Meeting the children or interviewing the teachers during the class hours is not permitted. 5. The open house system provides an opportunity to the parents to meet all the teachers on the day of open house and exchange views about their wards, strength, progress, weakness, in curricular or co-curricular activities. Parents are to attend such open house programmes in the interest of their wards. 6. Continued absence in open house programmes by the parents will be treated as a non co-operative approach by them and will be seriously viewed. 7. Parents shall meet teachers at least once in a term under intimation to the Principal, apart from open house or notified meetings. 8. Leave of absence is not granted except on written request from the parents or guardians in the class diary. In case of long leave on grounds of illness, a medical certificate should be furnished, and on rejoining a fitness certificate should also be produced. 9. New children should be introduced personally by their parents or guardians who will be responsible for the children's regularity of attendance and payment of dues. 10. Transfer Certificate will be issued only after setting all the dues to the Chinmaya Vidyalaya and on the parents'/guardians personally signing the register. Children leaving the school in the middle of the academic year shall pay the fees for the full term, in case they had opted monthly payment. 1 The School diary should be brought to class daily. CHINMAYA DISCIPLINE 2 Uniform must be neat and clean and should be worn on all days and at all school functions. 3 Children must be punctual for the assembly. Late comers should not enter the classes without the permission of the Principal and the late attendance record should be signed by their parents. 4 Gold ornaments should not be worn while coming to the Vidyalaya. Exchange of money/articles or any such transactions between students are not allowed. 5 Children are to be taught to render salutations when they meet the teachers and their class mates for the first time, whether in class or outside. When the teacher enters the class room, children should stand up and say "Hari Om" and take their seats only when the teacher sits or asks them to sit down. 6 Every child must take part in games, sports and all other activities related to the promotion of Indian Culture, Patriotism etc. 7 Children must cut their nails. Boys should cut their hair short and keep it combed and girls should keep their hair neatly tied and plaited. Boys are not permitted to grow a beard or side bums. They are not permitted to wear their pants below the waist level or wear tight fitting pants. 4
8 Children should not make noise or quarrel in the class rooms. 9 Children should bring all necessary text books, note books, pens/pencils, instruments and such accessories prescribed by the class teachers. 10 Children should be regular in doing their home works/assignments. TERM AND FEES The academic year has been divided into 3 terms of 4 months each for the purpose of payment of fees. First term extends from June to September, Second term October to January and Third term February to March Tuition Fees can be paid at a time for the whole year, or term-wise or monthly. In case of monthly fees, it shall be paid in ten monthly installments from June to March. The tuition fee and other fee are due on 15 th of every month. Late fee will be levied only after 20 th of every month (16 th to 20 th grace period). Late payment of fees from 21 st to end of the relevant month will be levied @ Rs.100/- and thereafter cumulatively @ Rs.100/- per month for every month that follows till the date of payment. 5
