A Joint Admissions Agreement Between Suffolk County Community College and The State University of New York at Stony Brook Purpose of This Agreement The purpose ofthis agreement is to outline the procedure for a Joint Admissions Program between Suffolk County Community College (hereinafter identified as Suffolk) and The State University of New York at Stony Brook (hereinafter identified as Stony Brook). The Joint Admissions Program stipulates that upon admission to Suffolk in the programs listed in Appendix A, students are guaranteed admission into the College of Arts and Sciences at Stony Brook, provided they have completed their Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree at Suffolk with a minimum cumulative grade point average of. Students are also assured that upon completion of an Associate in Science degree in Engineering Science with a cumulative grade point average of2.80 or higher, they are guaranteed admission to the major in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Stony Brook. Suffolk students who complete an Associate in Science degree in Computer Science with a cumulative grade point average of2.80 or higher and earn C's or higher in required courses (as specified in the Undergraduate Bulletin) will be guaranteed admission to Stony Brook's Computer Science major. The Department of Computer Science reserves the right to require proficiency examinations as a guide to determining course equivalencies and appropriate placement within Stony Brook courses. Suffolk students who complete an Associate in Science degree in Computer Science with a cumulative grade point average of2.80 or higher and earn C's or higher in required courses, will be guaranteed admission to Stony Brook's Information Systems major. The Department of Computer Science reserves the right, to require proficiency examinations as a guide to determining course equivalencies and appropriate placement within Stony Brook courses. Suffolk students who complete an Associate in Arts degree in Liberal Arts (general studies emphasis), an Associate in Science degree in Business Administration, or an Associate in Science degree in Accounting with a cumulative grade point average of 3.1 and who earn C's or higher in required courses, will be guaranteed admission to Stony Brook's Business Management major. Students are assured that it will be possible to complete their baccalaureate degree at Stony Brook in four additional semesters (or the equivalent for part-time students) in the programs listed in Appendix B provided they have completed relevant entry skills and general education requirements and the lower division courses required by their major department as

outlined in the Undergraduate Bulletin. Completion of degree requirements within four semesters is also dependent upon fall semester matriculation at Stony Brook and the student's program of study and progress in completing the requirements of the major. To be eligible for the Joint Admissions Program, students must complete the joint application form provided by Suffolk. The Joint Admissions Program is open to: 1. Applicants to Suffolk who will be first-time, matriculated freshmen;* or 2. Transfer applicants to Suffolk who will enter with fewer than 24 credits of completed college work, except students who were previously matriculated at Stony Brook; or 3. Any current matriculated Suffolk student who applies to the Joint Admissions Program prior to the completion of24 credits of college work. *Students on VISAS are not eligible. Stony Brook and Suffolk agree jointly to provide the following: 1. Each institution will designate a coordinator and an academic advisor for the Joint Admissions Program. 2. Suffolk and Stony Brook will develop cooperatively, publications pertaining to the Joint Admissions Program. Stony Brook agrees to provide the following for associate degree candidates at Suffolk who apply for Joint Admissions: 1. Stony Brook representatives will meet at Suffolk with students in the Joint Admissions Program. The purpose of these meetings will be to provide academic advice about Stony Brook's curriculum and general information about Stony Brook. 2. Stony Brook agrees to provide, as needed, information sessions with faculty and staff of Suffolk who will be involved in consulting and advising students enrolled the Joint Admissions Program. in 3. In consultation with Suffolk staff, the Stony Brook Transfer Guide for Suffolk students will be periodically updated. The guide will outline course equivalencies for required and recommended courses for each program of study included in the Joint Admissions agreement. The cost of this publication will be assumed by Stony Brook.

4. Stony Brook agrees to make the Stony Brook Transfer Guide available to Joint Admissions students. Suffolk agrees to provide the following for associate degree candidates at Suffolk who apply for Joint Admissions: 1. Suffolk will provide the necessary applications for students who want to apply for joint admission to Suffolk and Stony Brook. The cost of printing the application will be assumed by Suffolk. 2. Suffolk will be responsible for selection of candidates to the Joint Admissions Program. Applications will be evaluated according to the basic criteria in effect at Suffolk. 3. On October 1 st and February 1 st of each year, Suffolk will provide Stony Brook with a list of all students participating in the Joint Admissions Program. Also at this time, Suffolk will submit a list of the Joint Admissions students scheduled to graduate at the end of the semester who have indicated their intent to attend Stony Brook the following semester, along with copies of their transcripts. 4. By July 1 (for fall enrollees) and February 15 (for spring enrollees) Suffolk will send Stony Brook official proof of receipt of associate's degree for Joint Admissions students. 5. Suffolk will assist III setting up advisement programs involving Stony Brook faculty and staff. Articulation for Transfer Students Not Participating in Joint Admissions: Procedures outlined herein relate specifically to students who simultaneously apply to Suffolk and Stony Brook. Some students who apply to Suffolk have not decided upon their ultimate educational objective or transfer destination. During the course of study at Suffolk, they may decide upon transferring to Stony Brook. The two institutions agree to make every effort to facilitate transfer to Stony Brook of Suffolk graduates not covered by this agreement by making available to them the same academic advisement and consultation made available to Joint Admissions students. It is understood, however, that students not covered by the Joint Admissions agreement must apply and meet the admission standards of Stony Brook University. Terms of This Agreement This agreement will go into effect in the Fall of 2008. Students who have applied for the Fall 2008 semester at Suffolk are eligible for the Joint Admissions Program. The agreement will remain in effect for three years.

All students who apply through the Fall of 2011 to Suffolk will be eligible for Joint Admissions. Stony Brook and Suffolk agree to assess the Joint Admissions Program in three years with the intent of extending the agreement, making adjustments as necessary, and expanding its scope to encompass other programs at Suffolk and at Stony Brook, as appropriate.
