This paper examines the boundary conditions of the TCE-predicted relationship between asset specificity and firms boundary choices. It focuses on two homogenous firms facing decisions to organize transactions divided into two separable stages. The paper provides a more precise articulation of the boundary conditions surrounding TCE s central predictions. Integrating TCE and RBV Explanations of the Choice of Governance Form: The Effects of Asset Specificity and Privileged Capability Access with Michael J. Leiblein and Jay B. Barney, Max. M. Fisher College of Business. This paper integrates TCE and RBV perspectives on firms boundary choices by considering exogenous heterogeneity across firms in their productive capability. The analysis identifies and simulation demonstrates the specific conditions where the application of resourcebased logic may alter standard transaction cost economic (TCE) predictions. Whether and How do Governance Capabilities Affect the Selection of Governance Forms? with Michael J. Leiblein, Max. M. Fisher College of Business. This paper examines the effect of firm-specific governance capabilities on governance choices. It turns out that only in specific conditions a firm s governance capabilities related to a specific governance form favor that form. Was involved in generating and managing about 80% of the division s revenue during my tenure. Key clients included the print media leader in India, the largest edible oil importer, and a leading public enterprise in gas retailing. Retainer Consultant 2002-2002 KPMG, South Africa Undertook revenue modeling for a critical component on a multi-billion dollar real estate feasibility project in India. Led the team in sensitizing over all recommendation to Indian environment, and presented final recommendations to the client s board in India. Carried out market assessment, inter country competitive analysis, and provided way forward for a provincial government in South Africa to develop ITES service industry. Founder Director and CEO 2000-2002 TechAveNU.com India Private Limited Co-founded a socio-commercial Internet startup to help improve engineering education, and career and research opportunities for engineers in India. Played a pivotal role in envisioning the venture, arranging seed capital, and developing overall strategy. Built and led a team of 15 members, and managed operations and vendor relations. Successfully launched a prototype website, and at the peak had around 20,000 members from the top engineering institutes in India. Management Consultant 1999-2000 Self-employed Carried out a feasibility study for a Mutual Fund venture of a large housing finance company Helped the housing financing company re-engineer processes for mortgage products, and develop specifications for application software. The company s operations currently run on the application designed on the recommended processes and specifications. Senior Consultant (Strategy) 1997-1999 PricewaterhouseCoopers, India Primarily, worked on business feasibility, business planning, business modeling and strategy formulation engagements. I also worked on a securitization process design engagement. Participated in business development and client relationship management. Key clients include market leaders in India across industries such as Internet & telecom, hospitality, housing finance, and an Australian player in clean room operations.
