AT A GLANCE Founded in 1890, Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) is a private, independent, Ph.D.-granting, coeducational research university that offers today s students a superb education in engineering, business, architecture, the sciences, psychology, the humanities, and applied technology in an environment geared toward the undergraduate student. In IIT s undergraduate Interprofessional Projects (IPRO) Program, students from different academic majors work together to find innovative ways to solve realworld problems. Student IPRO teams are working to design a refuelable electric car, build a community farm on campus, and design a LEGO art program for urban youth, among other projects. The Idea Shop, our new 13,000-square-foot collaborative home to the IPRO program, features open meeting spaces, Mac mini-powered projectors, 3-D rapid-prototyping machines, a laser cutter, and workspace all designed to foster creativity and innovation. RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES Undergraduate students at IIT are involved in government-, foundation-, and industry-funded research projects in all areas of science, engineering, technology, and mathematics. These research experiences offer students the opportunity to be involved in cutting-edge research, applying their knowledge and skills outside the classroom.

DUAL-ADMISSION AND SPECIAL PROGRAMS Depending upon interest, capabilities, goals, and with the permission of advisors and department chairs, IIT students may choose dual undergraduate degree programs or select one of the special programs listed below. COMBINED UNDERGRADUATE/GRADUATE LAW PROGRAMS (LEADING TO B.S./J.D. DEGREES) Students in these programs study their undergraduate program on IIT s Main Campus and the law school portion of the program at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law. Pre-law undergraduate students also have access to seminars, pre-law advising, and assistance preparing for the LSAT. B.S./M.D./D.O./O.D. PROGRAMS In addition to pre-medical studies, IIT offers three dual-degree programs: IIT/Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine Dual-Admission Program IIT/Rush Medical College B.S./M.D. Early Admission Program IIT/Illinois College of Optometry B.S./O.D. Early Admission Program Students earn a bachelor s degree from IIT and a medical degree from the medical or optometry school. CHICAGO THE CITY IIT IS PROUD TO CALL HOME. IIT s home is Chicago and the university is proud of its South Side legacy that dates back nearly 125 years. Chicago takes it sports, culture, shopping, and food seriously. So take in a Bears football game, check out the Modern Wing at the Art Institute, walk along the lakefront, and have dinner at a Top Chef restaurant. IIT and the city of Chicago are a great combination. HOUSING Students who live on IIT s Main Campus make the most of their IIT experience. On-campus housing options include everything from theme communities to modern buildings with Chicago skyline views. Housing is guaranteed to IIT students, and many IIT undergraduates live on Main Campus in our traditional residence halls, apartment-style buildings, and seven fraternity and three sorority houses. ATHLETICS IIT is home to 10 varsity teams: men s baseball, women s volleyball, and men s and women s soccer, swimming and diving, track and field, and cross-country, as well as numerous intramural sports teams. STUDENT LIFE Make no mistake. IIT students work hard at their studies, but they also find time during their busy weeks for fun and involvement. Many are active in more than 100 clubs and campus organizations, some host parties at one of IIT s fraternities and sororities, and others compete each year in the IIT Pumpkin Launch. After all, this is IIT, the university where having fun is serious business and getting involved is a given. AFTER IIT Many graduates start their careers at some of the largest and most successful companies in the world, including the 200- plus companies that attended the IIT Career Fair. Some students decide to be their own bosses, founding entrepreneurial startups, often stemming from course and IPRO projects. Others continue their education in graduate school at IIT or one of the other top universities in the country and around the world.
FINANCIAL AID The majority of our students (99%) receive some type of financial aid. All IIT undergraduates are eligible for need- and merit-based scholarships and other financial aid.
