International Programmes 2018/2019 1

Kristianstad University Kristianstad University, or HKR for short, is a modern university situated in southern Sweden with easy access to larger cities and mainland Europe. We are a small higher education institution that focuses its attention to a few high quality programmes. Our idea is to offer education with a strong focus on employment and internationalisation. Our university cooperates extensively with local companies, schools and organisations and is linked with partner universities all over the world. No matter the degree, both undergraduate and postgraduate courses at HKR provide students with practical, real-world experience that is highly sought after by employers. Our degrees are recognised both nationally and internationally and mixes theory with experience in a practical setting and links with industry. HKR has 14.000 enrolled students and 500 staff. We re particularly proud of our campus. Nothing is distant here. All lectures take place on the same campus area and students will unavoidably meet and mingle with teachers, fellow students and other staff. Along with simple logistics (a flight to Copenhagen followed by a short train ride to Kristianstad), a service minded International Office facilitates our students stay. Housing with high standards is guaranteed and a wide of range of scholarships are available. Welcome to Kristianstad University. 2

Computer science and Information and communication technology (ICT) prove to play a fundamental role in the improvement of education, the battle against climate change and even the progress on gender equality, but it s also important to ensure sustainability. ICT today is in many parts of the world enabling transformation of the most expensive public services such as education, health care and also advance low income countries economies. The programme highlights how modern information technologies, such as mobile applications, Internet of Things, data mining, and data security, provide solutions that support global sustainability goals in different multidisciplinary contexts, such as ehealth, e-finance or water management. Read more at www.hkr.se/computerscience-master Admission Requirements Bachelor degree within Computer Science or in an engineering subject with the main field of study in Computer Science or equivalent, and English A/English 5 or equivalent. Diploma Degree of Master of Science in Computer Science, with emphasis on Sustainable Development Solmaz Zohdi I came to Sweden in 2004 after being born and brought up in India with Iranian parents. Today I am employed as a Service Operations Owner at a major furniture company in Sweden. The role means that within a specific service area I am responsible for all aspects of IT delivery, including both system changes and safeguarding of already running high priority services.. Where did my journey start? The first step on my European path landed in Kristianstad Högskola. After 3 years of walking (climbing?) along the bachelors program in Computer Software Development the path continued into a 1 year master s program in Embedded Systems and ended with a Master thesis and degree. As a great bonus, the education also became a fantastic way of integration into the Swedish society and to make lifetime friends. To the new comers I say only this; Do not be afraid of pursuing your dreams. I don t dare give more detailed advice, since for me the journey is still ON, where I m Living, Learning and Laughing! 7
