APPLICANT CHECKLIST Incoming new/transfer students: I have submitted my application fee to the University Texas at Dallas and I am enrolled to attend the University of Texas at Dallas in the Fall 2016. Incoming International Students: I have been issued an F-1 visa and I-20 as a requirement to attend the University of Texas at Dallas. The University of Texas at Dallas Mahatma Gandhi Memorial of North Texas Scholarship All applicants applying for this scholarship must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student with at least two semesters remaining prior to graduation. Applicants must maintain at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA. Among equally qualified applicants, a preference will be given to applicants who have either lived in or matriculated from India, be a dependent of individuals who have lived in India for the majority of their lives or have some connection to India through their family or work. Recipients will be encouraged to volunteer with the UT Dallas Indian Students Association. The scholarship will be at least $1,000 annually and will be awarded on a competitive basis by a committee duly appointed by the president of UT Dallas. Application MUST Include: 1. This scholarship application, completed in full with signature. 2. This scholarship cannot be combined with any other forms of financial aid. 3. Awards will be given to students enrolled in the academic year 2016-17 (fall/spring/summer). 4. A 1000-word narrative as indicated on this scholarship application. PERSONAL NARRATIVE Please write a one-page an essay on the " teachings of Mahatma Gandhi" and brief history of how you have encountered and overcame adversity. Detail why you feel you should receive this scholarship and how this scholarship will add to your educational goals.
