PRO IFX YEAR Germany Training Program

THE PROGRAM Through its partnership with International Futbol X-Change (IFX), generation adidas international is proud to offer qualified players a unique training experience in Germany. The Pro IFX Year enables competitive players over the age of 18 to play for a German semi-professional/amateur club for a full or half a season. Players are placed to train and compete with a German club according to their level of play and will experience a challenging football environment that allows tremendous opportunity for development. IFX manages the full international transfer of each player, enabling participation in official league matches. Not only does this program give qualified players access to an extensive club network, but it also allows them to experience life in another country. Players live in a shared apartment with other roommates and attend an intensive language institute, enabling rapid advancement in the German language. The program is available for the whole academic year (July through May), for the fall semester (July through December) and for the spring semester (January through May). If a player takes part in the Pro 30 Day program first and the partner club offers him the opportunity to stay and compete with their club for the rest of their current season or for the following season, the player may elect to enroll in the Pro IFX Year program, enabling extension of their stay in Germany for the agreed upon duration and competition with the German club. Donʼt miss this unique chance to experience soccer in Germany!

THE PROGRAM This program will give players not only valuable international soccer experience, but they are also educated about the culture of the people of Germany. Players are immersed in a foreign culture, amidst a new language, with other players from all corners of the globe. It is an unforgettable life experience, providing a new perspective by sharing with players from different walks of life that all share a passion for the same beautiful game. This is a unique chance to live Fuβball in one of the worldʼs most passionate soccer countries and with some of the worldʼs most passionate supporters.

accommodations & facilities Accomm odation: Players are placed to live in a shared private flat usually shared with other program particip ants. Facilities: Most commonly, German clubs train on natural grass pitches. In the summer and fall months, that is almost always the case. Late fall, winter and spring brings cold, snowy and wet weather, which causes many clubs to train either on artificial surfaces or something called Hardplatz, which is basically a mixture of earth and sand, a more durable surface for winter weather. Players must come prepared to train on all kinds of surfaces. Academi cs: This program enrolls each player in IFXʼs partner language institute in the heart of Nuremberg, for intensive German language lessons for the duration of the program. Courses normally include l essons covering grammar, pronunciation, conversation, and cultural subjects. Leisure activities: Although you will generally be occupied with your soccer training and language course, Germany offers many wonderful activities to enjoy during your free time. Germans typically are very active and enjoy biking, hiking, swimming, and of course Fuβball. Music, the arts, and theater are strongly supported in Germany, with many opportunities for attending local concerts, street festivals, and plays. Weekend activities aside from soccer matches may include going for hikes, bike rides through the countryside, swimming, and socializing with friends.

SOCCER IN GERMANY As one of the worldʼs soccer superpowers, Germany is home to some of the finest professional European clubs and players. Their extensive league system is comprised of multiple professional and semi-professional clubs that compete for promotion and relegation from one league to the next, year after year. This intensely competitive system has enabled the development of a stable economic soccer environment, for both professional and amateur clubs to enjoy professionally maintained facilities. Germany has consistently developed some of the top soccer talent throughout the world due to their knowledge and passion for the sport. With many clubs well over 100 years old, the expertise in German coaching and club management provides unlimited opportunities for growth and player development. Germanyʼs Bundesligas, Regionaligas, and Oberligas (top 3 national youth leagues) are comprised of Germanyʼs top talent, many of whom will enjoy a professional career in the future. Amateur and professional clubs alike all field their own youth teams, using their facilities and resources to mold their players into potential future members of their professional teams. It is typical in Germany for even the smallest of clubs to have their own home including a clubhouse, stadium pitch, practice pitches, and perhaps even a fitness facility. With top notch facilities, beautifully maintained grass fields, and perhaps the most efficient, intense, and tactically superior style, a player has no choice but to improve when in Germany.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Transfers: Public transportation throughout Germany is very accessible. Transportation costs are the studentʼs responsibility, including daily transportation to and from school, if necessary. Orientat ion and support: Academi c year, fall and spring semester students are given an orientation upon arrival in Germany. Visa information: Students will need to obtain a student visa to study in Germany and are required to apply for a residence permit for the duration of their stay. While citizens of the United States are permitted to apply for the student visa after arrival in Germany, citizens of other countries may not enjoy this same benefit. nuremburg, germany Nuremberg captivates its visitors with its Bavarian charm and Franconian mystique.
