Career Exploration Module DAY NINE Lesson Title Scavenger Hunt Cluster Pathways All Essential Question How can we locate additional information about Information Technology careers? TEKS Career Portals: 1.A, 1.B, 2.A, 2.B, 2.C, 2.D, 2.E, 4.A, 4.D, 6.A, 6.B, 6.C, 7.A, 8.D Prior Student Learning Students should have already heard all lecture presentations within the Career Module. Estimated time 45 min Objectives - Identify, explore, and review career opportunities within the Information Technology Cluster - Compare the different levels of education for IT careers in which students have a personal interest - Research the steps that are required to participate in a variety of career and educational opportunities. Materials/Equipment/Handouts Needed - Career Scavenger Hunt handout - Computers with Internet access - A to Z Activity Introduction/Engage - Ask students if they have ever participated in a scavenger hunt; ask a few students to share their experiences - Go over the requirements and directions for this Career Scavenger Hunt activity - Students will each choose three preferred careers for the activity Activities - Students will complete the Career Scavenger Hunt - Students may conduct their research via the internet or library resources - Debrief and share results Lesson Closure - Have a Q&A time near the end of the lesson to review different aspects of the Information Technology career cluster - Discuss the relationship between educational achievement and career success; how are these two concepts related? Assessment - Verbal responses to questions - Participation in all activities - Completion of Career Scavenger Hunt Extension - Ask students to write a reflection paper about their experiences and what they have learned from the entire Career Exploration Module experience. - A to Z Activity Copyright Texas Education Agency, 2015.
