Prospectus 2015 The campus,measuring 15 acres, is situated in an area of scenic beauty with the range of hills in the background. Modern amenities and facilities are available as the college is in the heart of Imphal East district. It is a premier college in the District offering Arts and Science faculties at the degree level. The college has been the first among the Colleges of Manipur to have been assessed and accredited by the NAAC. Prospectus 2015 Mission Statement To College shall strive to upkeep its pace with the surging need of the changing global education. The College gives importance to develop both physical and human resources so as to create equilibrium between academic and co-curricular activities. The College endeavours for the enhancement of knowledge with inculcation of values and quality for the betterment of society. To transact the curricula as put forward by the Manipur University. Facilities College Library College Library 2 Library The college has a fully automated Central Library and also various Departmental Libraries. The central Library has more than 22,000 books. Some computers in the Central Library are reserved for the students who would want to avail of the internet facility. A Photocopying machine of the college has already been installed in the administrative block along with fax and internet facilities. Students and teachers can enjoy this facility at concessional rate.

Students Common Room Prospectus 2015 The College has separate boys' and girls' common rooms for the students to relax in their leisure hours. The students can avail facilities like news papers, periodicals, various indoor games etc. in the said common rooms. Canteen: Canteen The college has a canteen providing tea, coffee, fruit juice & snacks to students and staff. Students' Common Room: Drinking water: Having installed "water purifying machines". The College provides clean, hygenic and cold drinking water. Internet and Computer Facilities. The College is trying to promote education through ICT (Information Communcation Technology). All the departments have computer facility with broadband internet connection. Students can avail the facility of on-line submission of application forms for different jobs and competitive examinations. Hostel Boys Hostel The college has a boys' hostel providing accommodation to 40 students. A second hostel, for girls is coming up shortly. Students can apply for Hostel accommodation only after admission. The college swimming pool is located near the Hostel building. 24x7 Power Supply With the installation of a 25KVA transformer, the college has a facility of regular power supply round the clock. 3

NCC and NSS Students admitted to the college can join the NCC (Infantry) or the NSS (Unit 1&2 ) [both boys and girls] College Activities: The is proud of an excellent playground which can be exploited to the best advantage by sports persons. Every year, the college organises Inter-House Annual Sports Meet and Cultural & Literary Meet to explore the talents of the students. Swimming Pool The college has a swimming pool catering to the needs of the College atheletes and atheletes of the state as well under the supervision of technical experts. Eco Park Works on the Development of an Eco Park in the South West of the College Campus is going on under the sponsorship of Environment and Ecology Wing, Imphal East, Government of Manipur. Land Scaping of Eco Park & Planting of trees/flowers will be takenup shortly. Educational Tours. The College organises Field trips, Educational Tours and Excursions (Internal and external) every academic year helping the students to develop the ability to learn by experiencing.

These awards are given every year to the Best Graduates in both Arts and Science streams as per the University results of BA/B.Sc Exmanination. Prospectus 2015 Courses Offered & Intake Capacity The Manipur University has introduced Semester System for the Three Year Degree BA/B.Sc. Courses from the academic session 2010-11. Students shall have to offer Honours in one subject from Fifth Semester onwards. Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) The Three Years Degree Courses study in Science leads to the Degree of Bachelor of Science. Each student should opt for Honours course in the V and VI Semester (3rd Year) in one of the following subjects-botany, Chemistry, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Zoology & Economics. The table below shows the subject combinations offered and subjects to be passed in 10+2 (Science) or equivalent examination recognised by Manipur University. Procedure for Admission Admission The college admission is made on merit basis. The candidates must have passed the latest class XII Examination conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur or its equivalent examination from a recognised Board/University and must have secured at least the following percentage of marks: a) 45% marks in aggregate for general candidates in Science and 40% marks in aggregate for general candidates in Arts and, b) 40% marks in aggregate for SC/ST/National players/ncc & NSS Cetificate Holders. 9

Prospectus Prospectus 2015 2015 Reservation a) 31% of the seats are reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribes and 2% for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes in each subject combination. The unfilled seats, if any reserved for SC will be filled in by admitting ST candidates and vice versa given by the Indian constitution. b) One seat is reserved for physically handicapped persons and one for sons/daughters for Ex-servicemen. c) Reserved seats shall be deemed to be unreserved if these seats are not filled in by the respective candidates in time. How to apply a) Application form along with the prospectus can be had from the college office on payment of Rupees 200/- b) Application form can also be obtained from the college website:www.moderncollegeimphal.nic.in and submit the same to the college office with a payment of Rupees 200/-. c) Duly completed application form together with required testimonials/certificates are to be submitted to the College office on or before the last date of submission notified by the Principal. d) Incomplete application forms submitted after the last date shall be rejected and for which no claim shall be entertained. Enclosures required with application form at the time of submission: a) Two photo copies of mark sheets both for High School leaving Certificate Examination and Higher Secondary Examination duly attested by a Gazatted Officer. b) Two photo copies of Admit Cards both for High School leaving Certificate Examination and Higher Secondary Examination duly attested by a Gazatted Officer. c) Three copies of a recent passport size photograph. d) Latest/Recent Original Income Certificate from the competent authority. e) Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/OBC/MU shall submit an attested copy of the latest Caste/Tribe/OBC/OBC/MU certificate issued by the concerned Deputy Commissioner. f) For handicapped candidates, a court affidavit shall be submitted along with the application forms. g) In case of students other than COHSEM Original migration certificate to be submitted. 10 N.B. i) No quota for admission under pressure from any union or association etc. ii) No downloaded mark sheet is allowed.

To attend class regularly 3. To speak softly and politely. 4. To keep decency of dress. 5. Not to loiter on the verandah. 6. Ragging is strictly prohibited. 7. Not to indulge in eve teasing. 8. Prospectus Prospectus 2015 2014 2015 Important Informaiton Ragging means the following: Any conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any other student, indulging in rowdy or un disciplined activities which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension there of in a fresher or a junior student or asking the students to do any act or perform something which such student will not in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or physique of a fresher or a junior student. Punishment At the institution level: Depending upon the nature and gravity of the offence as established by the Anti Ragging Committee of the institution the possible punishments for those found guilty of ragging at the institution level shall be any one or any combination of the following: * Suspension from atending classes and academic privileges. * With holding/withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits. * Debaring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluaiton process. * With holding results. * Debaring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc. * Suspension/expulsion from the hostel. * Cancellation of admission. * Rustication from the institution for period ranging to 4 semester. * Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to other institution for a specified period. * Fine ranging between Rs. 25,000/- and Rs. 1 lakh. * Collective punishment: when the persons committing or abeting the crime of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment. 12
