APPLICATION Application procedure Students must be nominated by those responsible for study abroad at the university of origin. Along with nomination, the student must fill out the application form and send the following documents via email. Once accepted, students must show proof of international medical coverage previous to their arrival. ACADEMIC INFORMATION Language of instruction Spanish is the language of instruction with limited offer of courses in English. Course information can be found on our website: http://www.javerianacali.edu.co/en/academics Students will present their course selection in the application form. The class schedules will be given to the student once the registration process is completed. Course information Due to academic reasons, schedules can be only modified during the welcome week, this process will be supervised and approved by the program director, and it depends on the availability of the courses. No changes can be done for any personal reasons. According to the university regulations, international students must take a minimum of 12 academic credits. International Health Insurance LEGAL DOCUMENTS All incoming students or visitors must purchase an international coverage insurance previous to their arrival, that includes repatriation and civil liability for third-party damage. Some students, depending on their nationality, must obtain a TP-3 student visa at the Colombian consulate or embassy in their country of origin. Regardless their nationality, students attending to Javeriana University for two semesters or staying over a period of more than 180 days, must obtain a student visa at the Colombian consulate or embassy in their country of origin. For this purpose, Javeriana Cali University will send the acceptance letter and the legal representative document of the university. Student visa Students of a period of stay abroad for less than 180 days and do not required visa to enter to Colombia, must show their acceptance letter on entry into the country in order to receive the Permiso de Ingreso y Permanencia (Permit for entry and stay) PIP-2. This permit must be renewed before to accomplish 90 days in Colombia and it has a cost of $90.000 COP. NOTE: Students attending the Faculty of Medicine must obtain a student visa regardless of the duration of their stay or nationality. Additionally, insurance must cover biological hazards. Foreigner ID Students who enter with a student visa must obtain their Cedula de Extranjeria. This document must be processed within the first 15 calendar days after entering the country. This can be done at the local Immigration Office Migración Colombia in Cali and has a cost of $ 185.000 COP. Housing SERVICES Javeriana Cali does not have student accommodations therefore there are two options for housing in the city of Cali. - A room in a Colombian family - A shared apartment or studio The International Affairs Office will send a list of different housing options to students so that they can choose according to their expectations. Airport pick-up Costs range from $400.000 to $700.000 Colombian pesos / month. The airport pick up service has a cost of $25 USD, if the student would like to take it, he/she must report it to the International Affairs Office providing the following information: Date of arrival Time of arrival Airline Flight number Other services offered by the International Affairs Office The International Affairs Office offers all the support related to student mobility. We help students before and during their international experience at Javeriana Cali with: Procedures for entry permits or student visa Academic guidance and counseling on campus Extracurricular activities: sports, volunteer programs, cultural activities Orientation with academic and administrative requirements University services available for International Students Health and well-being. There is a doctor available on campus at the Well-Being Center (Centro de Bienestar) every day. There is no fee for these services. Risk insurance: Once the student is registered at the university, he/she will receive a risk insurance covering some specific events related to academic activities on and off campus. Sports center (CDL). The Center of Sports (CDL) offers (free) to the students and the academic community, a variety of sports as well as a complete gym. Some of the sports offered include tennis, basketball, water polo, soccer, volleyball, yoga, dance, zumba, amongst others.
