Terry Foundation Scholarship The Terry Foundation Scholarship Program provides scholarship funds for up to four (4) years to outstanding Texas high school graduates who show promise for being future leaders of Texas. Established in 1986 by Houston philanthropists Nancy & Howard Terry, the Foundation has assisted hundreds of Terry Scholars in meeting the founders goal of helping young people to help themselves. To be considered for the Terry Scholars Program at TWU, students should be able to demonstrate a strong record of leadership in school and community, exhibit financial need, and possess strong academic abilities; evidenced by grades, class rank, and ACT or SAT test scores. Applicants must also be graduates from a Texas high school (or home-schooled in Texas) and admitted to TWU as a full-time student for the 2018-2019 academic year. Texas Woman s University is now accepting Terry Foundation Scholarship applications for the 2018-2019 academic year. A select number of students will be interviewed by TWU faculty/staff from the applications received. Candidates will then be nominated and their applications will be forwarded to the Foundation for review and final interview by Foundation representatives. Please note that TWU serves as a nominating body only; all final decisions regarding Terry Foundation Scholarship recipients and award amounts are made by the Terry Foundation. Terry Scholarship award amounts are determined annually based on the cost of attendance at TWU, including tuition, fees, books, on-campus housing, meal plan and personal expenses. The actual specific amount of the award will vary for each scholar, depending on other scholarship awards, financial aid, and the ability of the scholar s family to contribute to the cost of college. In addition to the academic continuing scholarship requirements, the successful TWU Terry Scholar will need to be prepared to be actively involved in campus activities. A special TWU Terry Scholar Student Organization will offer recipients the opportunity to develop a community service agenda and mentor incoming scholars. Scholars will also have the opportunity to participate in various academic, social, and cultural events offered by the Student Life Office and the TWU Terry Scholars Program. 1
