ELA/Reading Tasks
Multiple Choice Items Multiple-choice items require you to select a single answer option. Students may click anywhere on the answer or click in the circle that contains A, B, C, or D. The selected answer circle will become dark (almost black). After reading a six-paragraph essay about online learning, the student is asked the question above.
Multi-Select Items Multi-Select items allow you to select more than one answer option. These are different from multiple-choice items, which allow you to select only one response. NOTE: Some items may ask you to select a specific number of responses.
Hot Text Hot Text items require you to either click on a response option or drag a response option to another location. The student may be required to highlight text, move text, or drag and drop items.
Hot Text: ELA Example After reading a six-paragraph essay on online learning, the student is asked a two part text-dependent question.
Graphic Response Item Display (GRID) The student might select words, phrases, or images and use the drag-and-drop feature to place them into a graphic organizer or other format.
Open-Response ELA Example Open-response items require you to use the keyboard to enter the response into a text field. Different types of open-response items may appear on the test.
Multimedia/Listening Passage Items Student is prompted to use headphones to listen to an audio script and complete several questions. The questions could be any other task type. The passage can be narrative or informational. The passage can be a conversation between others or a presentation.
Editing Task Items To answer responses for editing task items, click the highlighted word or phrase. (Typically, the highlighted word or phrase will have a light green background.) Some editing task items require you to enter the replacement word or phrase. Some editing task items require you to select the replacement word or phrase from a menu.
ELA Text Complexity A source may consist of one or more text samples Text complexity analysis incorporates a variety of factors Factors may include quantitative measures, purpose, structure, and language complexity Graphics such as infographics, photographs, tables, and diagrams may be included with the sources Grade Band Word Count Range 3 100 700 4 100 900 5 200 1000 6 200 1100 7 300 1100 8 350 1200
Mathematics Tasks

Equations: Mathematics Example Equation items require you to enter a valid statement that answers the question. To enter an equation, click the button for each letter or symbol. The equation entered will be typed in the answer box.
Graphing Items The student interacts with a graph using the drag and drop feature, hot spot or by drawing or graphing.
Grid Items Grid items require using point, line, or arrow buttons to create a response. To add a point/line/arrow, click the [Add Point]/ [Connect Line]/[Add Arrow] button and then click on the location in the grid where the icon should appear. To delete a point, line, or arrow, click the [Delete] button and then click on the object you want to remove. (Clicking on a point will also remove adjacent lines.)

Statewide Science Assessment Assesses mastery of the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards (NGSSS) 5 th grade students will be tested primarily on material from 3 rd, 4 th and 5 th grade science 8 th grade students will be tested on material from 6 th, 7 th and 8 th grade courses The questions are broken down into four clusters: Physical and Chemical Sciences, Earth and Space Sciences, Life and Environmental Sciences, and Scientific Thinking Paper-based assessment administered in May 2017 Consists of 60-65 multiple-choice questions taken in two 80-minute sessions 5 th grade will have 2 sessions administered over 2 days 8 th grade will have 2 sessions administered in 1 day
Students Can Expect Pictures, diagrams, models, graphs, data tables, charts, etc. To see most likely or best in questions that appear to have more than one correct answer Temperature to be shown in Celsius ( C) Metric units of measurement for mass, length, weight or volume Other words will be emphasized: least, most, greatest, percent, best, etc. Numbers to be expressed in scientific notation
