All India Seminar on Recent Advances in Mechanical Engineering Bhubaneswar * 16-17 March, 2013 Objective Advancement of the modern industries is totally dependent on the advancement of electronics and related industries, which in turn is governed by the development of the precision manufacturing, measuring techniques and integrated knowledge based manufacturing system. In today s global scenario the success of manufacturing industries can only be achieved with the optimization of the manufacturing and other functions in logical association with one another. Internal combustion engines are presently being fuelled by petroleum based fuels, which are going scare day by day. Secondly the problem of engine emissions is also very significant. Solution to these problems is only to go for alternate fuels in order to be self sustained in this field. Cryogenic technology deals with production, maintenance and applications of low temperature, typically below -150 0 C. With the advancement of technology and growth of human knowledge, cryogenics is gaining more relevance in all spheres of social milieu. Today cryogenic technology is applied in medical, biological and food preservation processes as well as in futuristic technology like fusion reactors for power generation and deep space probe. The objective of this seminar is to bring together experts from academic institutions, industries and research organizations and professional engineers for sharing of knowledge, expertise and experience in the emerging trends related to Mechanical Engineering Education and Research. Papers are invited from the prospective authors from different fields. Potential topics to be addressed in this conference include, but are not limited to the following: THEMES AND SUB-THEMES (A) Design and Advanced Manufacturing (i) Material Processing; (ii) Manufacturing Automation and Robotics; (iii) Laser Technology; (iv) Manufacturing planning and Optimization; (v) Non-Traditional Manufacturing Processes; (vi) Micro-Machining, Nano-Technology & Smart Materials; (vii) Simulation and Modelling; (Viii) CAD/CAM; etc. (B) Thermal Engineering (i) Internal Combustion Engines; (ii) Alternate Fuels; (iii) Renewable and Nonconventional Energy Sources, Energy Systems; (iv) Advanced Refrigeration and Air Conditioning; (v) Cryogenics ; (vi) Computational Methods in Thermal Engineering, Optimization Methods, CFD; etc.
ABOUT THE INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERS (INDIA), IEI, is a multidisciplinary professional body that encompasses 15 engineering disciplines and gives engineers a global platform from which to share professional interests. Established in 1920 and registered under the Indian Companies Act, 1913, was formally inaugurated by Lord Chelmsford, the then Viceroy and Governor General of India. IEI was granted the Royal Charter of Incorporation, 1935 by His Majesty the King George V of England in 1935, to promote and advance the science, practice and business of engineering in all its branches in India. Starting with this humble beginning with 138 members now an unique professional body with an overall membership of over 0.6 million. ABOUT ODISHA STATE CENTRE, IEI Odisha State Centre, IEI was established at Burla on 22 nd February, 1959 with 86 Corporate Members and 245 non-corporate members.
