Page 1 of 13 Application Instructions Transfer Admission The School of Law only reviews transfer applications for fall semester admission. Qualified transfer applicants (as determined by the admissions committee) who have completed one year at an ABA-accredited law school are admitted to the second-year class on a space available basis. The School of Law will accept for transfer a maximum of 30 semester hours earned at a student's previous institution (the number of semester hours earned by our first-year students). A minimum of 22 credits is required for transfer. Credit is not usually granted for law school courses beyond the first year. In addition to a bar examination, there are character, fitness, and other qualifications for admission to the bar in every U.S. jurisdiction. Applicants are encouraged to determine the requirements for any jurisdiction in which they intend to seek admission by contacting the jurisdiction. Addresses for all relevant agencies are available through the National Conference of Bar Examiners. The School of Law uses a paperless application process. All accompanying documents must be submitted electronically either as an attachment to your application, a submission to LSAC or as an email attachment. Transfer applicants must submit all of the following materials: Application form. Transfer applicants must use the "transfer application." Law school transcript; Letter of good standing from current law school (include class rank if available); CAS report; Short Personal statement which should include the reasons for requesting the transfer; Résumé; and 2 letters of recommendation are strongly suggested but not initially required. If you do not submit letters of recommendation, the admissions committee reserves the right to request one at a later date. Applicants will be asked to do an interview. The interview may be conducted by Skype or in person at the law school. You are welcome to submit an application at anytime and then follow-up with additional documents as they become available. Certification Applicants must certify to the following: By electronically transmitting this application, I hereby certify that the answers and statements contained in this application are true to the best of my knowledge and belief. I understand that a misrepresentation or omission may be grounds for revocation of an offer of acceptance or for dismissal. I agree to report in writing to the Admissions Office any changes in my responses, which may occur after the filing of this application (excluding responses to the optional questions). If admitted I will have an official transcript from my degree-granting undergraduate institution showing the degree earned and its date, and an official transcript from my current law school, sent to the admissions office by August 1st, preceding the start of my entering fall term. If I matriculate to Washington University, I will accept the responsibilities imposed by the Honor Code and abide by those principles. Important Dates OCI, which is available to all deposited transfer applicants, participation deadlines are in early June. Therefore, it is beneficial to have all of your materials submitted and, if admitted, your deposit paid by early June. All decisions will be sent via email.
