Every Student has a place Every Student has a pathway Every Student will SHINE Mount Gambier, South Australia AUSTRALIA

Welcome from the Principal At Tenison Woods College we believe that every learner has a place, every learner has a pathway and every learner will shine. That is our challenge and our celebration. Tenison Woods College recognises the importance of children and adolescents being engaged in and challenged by their learning. We respond to their diverse interests and talents, while strengthening student s competence and confidence in managing complex educational programs. We are proud of the range of learning opportunities both in core curriculum and co-curricular activities. We value the strong support from parents as partners in the education of their children and we are inspired by the excellent learning facilities provided in our school programs. This is complemented by our strong pastoral care and wellbeing attribute that is shown to every student, therefore letting every child live by the college motto, let your light shine. God Bless, David Mezinec Principal

International Students Tenison Woods College has an outstanding reputation as a very dynamic modern school that educates students within a family-friendly, nurturing environment. International and International Exchange students work, study and form life lasting friendships with Australian students. The college is welcoming to all new students and provides a safe, supportive environment that gently helps international students to adapt to the Australian culture and lifestyle. The inclusion of International Students at Tension Woods College provides an opportunity to promote cultural understanding and diverse classroom learning.

Curriculum The pathways model of learning adopted by Tenison Woods College offers an innovative educational program, enabling individual students to navigate their learning and enhance their skill development. Students who successfully complete their Senior Secondary education are awarded the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE). SACE is an Internationally recognised qualification that paves the way for young people to move from school to further training and study. ATAR- Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank, are given shortly after completing the High School Certificate. It is a score out of 100. Grades and subjects are combined to determine each students score. As a high school leaver, securing your preferred university course depends on your overall ATAR score and often, on the grades of individual subjects as well. Subjects available at Tenison Woods College include Mathematics, English, Science- Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, Scientific Studies, Chinese, Italian, History, Geography, Society & Culture, Business & Enterprise, Child Studies, Information Technology, Information Processing & Publishing, Technology Material Products, The Arts, Physical Education, Religious Education and Music. Students also have access to Vocational Education and Training (VET) subjects in a range of areas. The College s Titans High Performance Sports Program is aimed at supporting and developing highly talented athletes in their chosen sporting fields, while underling the concept of the student athlete; a well-rounded student whose success in sport is complemented by, and complements academic achievement. The program is a multi-sport program. Music also has a strong pathway of opportunities available to students who wish to pursue this as a subject.

Extra Support for International Students At Tenison Woods College we realise the challenge of studying in a new country and culture, at times very different from your own. As such, international students are carefully and individually supported from when they enrol at the College, right up until they leave. We do our best to ensure their transition to successful study in Australia is achieved. Our Languages Support Team ensures that our international students gain extra tuition in the English language, as well as in areas of learning needs. Students at the College also have access to an online tutoring service to assist them after hours, and to complement the extra support offered by College teachers and our Learning Support Team.

Homestay and Wellbeing Our Homestay and Wellbeing Coordinators are committed to the care and wellbeing of each individual student, helping them feel like they belong to the school community and have the fullest possibility for personal, social, academic and spiritual growth. All international students studying at Tenison Woods College are carefully and thoughtfully placed in Homestay accommodation, with a family who is matched to the individual child. All Homestay families are registered and managed by the College homestay coordinator. Homestay is a term used to describe full board accommodation, offered by a family, with a set weekly fee being charged. Homestay allows the international students to become involved in family activities and become a family member in a safe and happy environment. Homestay is an enriching life experience for building cultural understanding between the student and an Australian family. Homestay often leads to lifelong friendships with fellow students and families.
