Curriculum Map for English Language Arts DeKalb County Schools Grade 3 *Note: There are some standards that are more complex and broad. These will have to be taught continually from the beginning of the year through the end of the year. These standards will not be tested on Global Scholar until the last 6 weeks; therefore it is crucial that you begin teaching these at the beginning of the year. Also, you must begin reading books by the same author for students to be able to master RL 3.8. The following standards are continual: RL 3.9, RI 3.10, RF 3.3, RF 3.4, L 3.1, L3.1a, L3.2, L3.3, L3.4, L3.5 There are 6 Segments to teach all the standards for Reading Literature (RL), Reading Foundations (RF), Reading of Informational Texts (RI), and Language (L). Each segment is designed for teaching a 6 week period of time using any resources you have available. Standards for Writing, Speaking, and Listening are not included on this curriculum map.

Segment 1 (First 6 Weeks) Standards: *Note- the description beside each standard is a general statement of each standard. Standards need to be read completely by referring to the CCR ELA Standards.
