Gradebook Helper Quick Start Access the MyUCLAlogi scree at http://my.ucla.edu ad click the Logi licese plate. Eter a Brui OLie I.D. ad password i the followig scree ad press Logi. Select My Gradebook from the MyUCLACourses page. 1. Click the Logi licese plate at my.ucla.edu 2. Eter BOL I.D. ad password 3. Select My Gradebook 4. Select the Gradebook Helper ico Select the Gradebook Helper ico from the Gradebook Mai Meu ad create a gradig schema i three easy steps.
Step 1. Set Geeral Properties Set Gradebook properties as follows: Gradebook properties drop-dow meus Set geeral properties ad click Next to go to Step 2 Teachig Assistat Access Select Yes to grat TAs limited Gradebook access that allows them to eter ad edit grades for studets i their ow sectios. TAs may eter commets for idividual studets i their sectios, but ot for the class as a whole. TAs may ot modify the Gradebook structure ad may ot submit fial grades. Select No to dey TAs access ad prevet a lik from appearig o their persoal MyUCLApages. Grade or Poit System Select Letter Grades to use a letter gradig system. Valid letter grades are: A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, D-, ad F. Select Poits to use a poit system. Fial Grade Submittal Select MyUCLA to use the MyUCLAGradebook to submit fial grades to the Registrar's Office olie. Select Paper to submit fial grades to the Registrar's Office usig the traditioal paper form. Alterate Category Weights Select Yes to defie two sets of category weights. This offers studets the better of two gradig schemas. For example, oe set of weights might be 50 percet each for a fial ad a midterm, ad the secod 20 percet for the midterm ad 75 percet for the fial. Studets who perform poorly o the midterm ca still do well i the class by doig well o the fial. The Gradebook automatically computes fial grades usig both scales ad suggests the higher of the two for each idividual studet. Select No i the drop-dow box to use oe weightig schema oly. Properties ca be modified later, either from the Gradebook Mai Page or by comig back to the Gradebook Helper Click Next ad proceed to Step 2.
Step 2. Select Gradig Categories Defie gradig categories by assigig weights. The sum of all category weights must equal 100 perc e t. The Gradebook has predefied categories ad a optio for other, which lets istructors create their ow categories. If Yes was selected i the Alterate Category Weights property i Step 1, set alterate category weights. To set equal weights for items withi the category, for example five quizes worth 20 percet each, check the box ext to the category ame. Leave the box empty to set relative weights for each item maually i Step 3. Categories are Attedace Cases Essay/Paper Exam Fial About Categories ad Items Gradig schemas iclude categories ad items. Categories iclude homework, participatio, essays, exams, lab work, ad so forth. Items are particular istaces of categories. Thus, a course with five homework assigmets cotais five homework items withi the homework category. Step 3. Assig Items to Categories Fill i each field as appropriate to add a item to the category. Categories require at least oe item. Assigmet Name Eter a ame for each ew item. Date Due Eter the due date. If a item, such as attedace, does ot require a due date, select the default, which is today s date. The date is highlighted i the MyUCLAcaledars of the istructor, TAs, ad studets. Weight Eter the item s relative weight withi the category. If the Display Item Weights Evely box was checked i Step 2, the field is populated with values that adjust accordigly as items are added. Maximum Score If the Poits, rather tha Letter Grade, property was selected i Step 1, eter the maximum poits possible for this item. Show Studets Determie the to category list. iformatio studets ca see from their MyUCLApages. If No Iformatio is Repeat process selected, studets do ot see their grades; if Scores w/o Distributio is selected, they see their grades oly; ad if Scores w/distributio is selected, they see their to assig more grades compared to those of classmates.
