Trustee s Message All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. Do not give up your Impossible Dream because as you continue to try, you are coming closer and closer to it. When others think it is impossible, it does not mean it is impossible for you. Many may not understand or believe in the possibility of achieving the Impossible Dreams. But I can say if you strive hard nothing is impossible. By giving personal time and efforts, today our social activities runs 7 educational institutions, ranging from primary schools to colleges and a unique Orphanage, which imparts a well rounded comprehensive education and enhance the lives of more than 50000 children. My dream is the need to spread the concept that the world needs not only well educated and intelligent people, but who are courageous and compassionate. We need people to extend their hands to help others and stand up for the rights of all mankind. I truly want you to be committed to become Moral and Intellectual leaders, people of dignity, integrity and compassion who want to make a positive difference in the world. I pray for your success in all our endeavours. Mr. Chunibhai Haribhai Gajera, Managing Trustee, Smt S.H. Gajera Charitable Trust GAJERA GLOBAL SCHOOL, SURAT NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2016 3

Editor s Message With the spread of violence all around, the need of the hour is to attain peace and that too with your own self. When you change your thoughts, you change your life. I feel the fastest way to achieve peace and harmony is to change your thinking. In order to change your outer world you must first change your inner world. 1. Observe Your Internal Chatter. If you find your thoughts are negative or limiting, stop and replace those thoughts with positive ones. Meditation is a good way to clear that negative chatter, and assist you in changing your thought process. 2. Say What You Mean, and Mean What You Say. Healthy communication is a key element in keeping peace and harmony in your life. Good communication eliminates being misunderstood, and prevents stressful situations. Saying what you mean not only gives you a sense of peace, you also earn the respect from others when they know you are true to your word. 3. Focus on the Positive Not the Negative. Turn negative situations into positive ones. Remember, you attract what you dwell on; positive attracts positive, and negativity attracts negativity. 4. Practice Guided Visualization. You can create what you visualize, and with the aid of your subconscious mind, the possibilities are limitless! 5. Get Organized. Organizing your surroundings, and managing your time wisely helps give you a clear head for making wise choices. Your choices are dependent on your thoughts, start organizing your life now, and see how fast you can change your life. Thoughts are powerful, after all, everything ever created started with a thought. You are creating your tomorrow with the thoughts you have today. Classroom News Club Activities All the students are obliged to gain practical experience in the course of their academic education. The concept of Clubs is seen as an opportunity for adaptation to life in the group, forming good life long habits and cultivating a voluntaristic spirit. Participation in extracurricular activities enables learners to develop talents that may find little expression in the classroom. Club activities offer teamwork between students, rendering the process of involvement as important as the finished product. GAJERA GLOBAL SCHOOL, SURAT NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2016 8

Cover Story Creating Inner Peace that Endures Don t you find life to always be filled with stress? Doesn t it seem like there is always something that happens which encompasses our entire attention, and thus drain our positive energy? As our society grows more and more complex, finding true peace becomes more like trying to find an oasis in the desert. Therefore, we wanted to take this opportunity to share with you some of the methods to find peace and disconnect from the daily routine: Accept what is There is only so much we can affect. What we cannot change, what we cannot influence no matter what, should not be a concern to us. Why worry about something that all the worrying in the world will not change? Why care about what other people think of us when we re not even sure what it is they are actually thinking? Meditate Meditating for 20 minutes daily can have an enormous impact in all areas of your life. Simply close everything, sit back, close your eyes, and clear your mind of every single thought. Focus on the emptiness. Spend time in nature We spend so much time confined in buildings of steel and concrete and bricks that we quickly forget where we come from. It is natural for us to be in nature, and this is why it feels so good and it is so peaceful when you take a walk in a park or bike on a trail in the early mornings. Learn the power of a smile Whenever you are laughing or smiling, something interesting happens. Not only does something happen on a chemical level to make you feel better, but it also stop all stress and negativity from entering your psyche. A simple smile can make such a difference. Care about others You will never find peace by being self-consumed and only worrying about your own needs and wants. When you begin to genuinely care about other people, so much goodness comes right out. This only helps into solidifying your inner peace. Never lose hope Hope is something you can never afford to lose. With hope you always have a path towards peace. Whenever we get too stressed out and overwhelmed within our own life, we forget that hope. Live in the present moment Most of the time, what we worry about is relating to something either in the past, or something that hasn t happened. Living in the present moment erases all such thoughts. Why worry about something that we are not even sure will happen or not? GAJERA GLOBAL SCHOOL, SURAT NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2016 9

Teacher s Corner Four words - That Makes Life Worthwhile Over the years people have sought out ideas, principles and strategies for life s challenges. Life s come across four simple words that can make life worthwhile. First, life is worthwhile if you- LEARN. What you don t know will hurt you. You have to have learning to exist, let alone succeed. Life is worthwhile if you learn from your own experiences- negative or positive. We learn from what we read, so learn from every source; learn from every lectures; learn from songs; learn from sermons; learn from conversation with people who care. Always keep learning. Second, life is worthwhile if you TRY. You can t just learn; now you have to try to see if you can do it. Try to make a difference, try to make some progress, try to learn new skill, try to learn a new sport. It doesn t mean you can learn everything, but there are a lot of things that you can do, if you just try. Try your best. Give it every effort. Why not go all out? Third, life is worthwhile if you STAY. You have to stay from spring until harvest if you have signed up for the day or for the game or for the project-see it through. Sometimes calamity comes and then it is worth wrapping it up. And that the end, but just don t end in middle. May be on the next project you may pass, but on this one, if you signed up see it through. And lastly, life is worthwhile if you CARE. If you care at all, you will get some results. If you care enough you can get incredible results. Care enough to make a difference. Four powerful little words: LEARN, TRY, STAY, CARE. Teacher s Corner Educators Activities Thrown your jeans?? Oh no!! Look Here. Our creative arts team taught the parents how to make best out of waste and make an old jeans useful. Our educators recycled and prepared innovative articles from old jeans. Life is like Photography, we develop from the negatives; It s time to capture the world around us with the press of a shutter. Photography week celebrated at GGS gave our young photographers an opportunity to see things differently, notice details and inevitably see how much beauty is all around us. They have had a fantastic challenge and a profound learning experience under the guidance of the educators. Educators showed their enthusiasm to the fullest on the Display Boards here at GGS We at GGS observed National Sports Day whereby speech was given by our in-house Sports Coach Mr. Dhaval Chauhan explaining the significance of sports in life to the learners. GAJERA GLOBAL SCHOOL, SURAT NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2016 11

''Let's take decision to value our nation, not to forget those sacrifices which gave us freedom. Now it's our turn to have a reformation! Hold your head high, let the entire world know that you are proud and cherish this nation with all your heart.'' It was a memorable day at GGS for the celebration of 70th Independence Day. It was graced by our Honorable Trust Board Members and beloved parents. After the Unfurling of the National Flag, the learners put up cherishable songs, skits and speeches. Parent s / Children Corner It s not a SUBWAY, it s a GGSWAY Creative parents of GGS displayed their hidden talents and participated in Salad Decoration Competition held on this day on patriotic theme. They ended up preparing delicious salads with beautiful messages as well as presentation gizmos. GAJERA GLOBAL SCHOOL, SURAT NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2016 12

Parent s / Children Corner Books are a mirror of one s soul which enrich the mind and soothe the heart. We organized a One Day Book Fair on this 70 th Independence Day. The signal went loud and clear that GGS believes in providing its students with holistic and informative literature to enrich their vocabulary and diction. The fair was inaugurated by our Trustees Shri Nitin Gajera, Shri Jatin Gajera and Rashmi Ma ams who wished that the students inculcate reading habits by reading enriched literature. The children enjoyed the fair and picked books varying from science to spooky stories; from puzzles to poems; and from fiction to facts. The teachers equally helped the children in selecting the books. The Parents too encouraged the Children as they believed it to be an opportunity to read and access more informative literature besides their efficiently loaded school library. Ganesh Chaturthi is just around the corner and devotees across the country are excitedly purchasing Ganesha idols. These idols are traditionally made out of plaster of Paris, which is not biodegradable. Even the paint used to beautify them is toxic and harmful to marine life. With this in mind the initiative taken by GGS in trying to make the festival more eco-friendly and have come up with innovative ideas to make idols that will not harm the environment. I am grateful to GGS for involving the parents in this activity and taking this initiative to make a very special Ganesha idol this year an idol made of chocolate and immersing it with milk which served the noble purpose of sharing with orphan girls and the Sand Ganesha dissolved in water which was used to water plants. I wish all of us follow the eco-friendly practices to promote the awareness in our children and the society. Happy Eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi!! ~Mr. Mahesh Patel Father of Prayosha Patel and Jay Patel GAJERA GLOBAL SCHOOL, SURAT NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2016 13

Community Service Everyone can be great, because everyone can serve. - Martin Luther King, Jr. It is a necessity to understand why learning to give back to others is vital for positive youth development and how parents, schools, and communities play an important role. With the right community service opportunities, children can grow from an understanding of how they fit into society to how they can help solve societal problems. This developmental process grows empathy and fosters children s identities as engaged citizens. To spread the awareness of eco-friendly Ganesha, Choclolate Ganesha and Clay Ganesha were made by our educators. The Chocolate Ganesha was immersed in milk and this Chocolate milk was distributed amongst the Orphan Children. GAJERA GLOBAL SCHOOL, SURAT NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2016 14
