DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATION SCIENCE: MAGISTER ARTIUM SELECTION PROCEDURE: Candidates must apply for admission to any masters qualification in the Department of Communication Science. The minimum requirement for the first round of selection is a minimum average of 65% in an applicable honnours degree, with a minimum of 70% in a research project on honours level. Applicants that do not meet these requirements will not qualify for the second round of selection. Applicants that have not completed a research project on honours level will unfortunately not be taken into consideration. However, these applicants can apply again after a research project has been completed (done through occasional study). The second round of selection entails the successful completion of a language proficiency test (TALPS), as well as the submission of a research proposal done according to the requirements of the Department of Communication Science. It is the applicant s responsibility to make the necessary arrangements to complete and carry the financial implications of the language test. The final round of selection will commence after all the necessary documentation (mentioned above) is submitted to the Department of Communication Science. Finally, admission to the masters qualifications is subject to permission from the programme committee. 5
