College of Communication and Information School of Journalism and Mass Communication 0 Franklin Hall Kent Campus 0-67-57 jmc@kent.edu www.kent.edu/jmc Description The Bachelor of Science degree in Digital Media Production allows students to gain first-hand experience in all aspects of single camera and live multi-camera production, including shooting, audio recording, editing, writing, directing and producing digital films and live television. Film styles covered include narrative fiction, documentary, commercial and corporate productions. The Digital Media Production major comprises two concentrations: The Television concentration provides students opportunities to learn how to produce and create live television programming in both the studio and remote production truck. Students may assist in the production aspects of student media entities, Black Squirrel Radio and TV-, producing scripted shows and/or live sports. Graduates generally secure permanent or freelance positions with television stations and remote broadcast entities. The Digital Film concentration provides opportunities for students learn how to direct, produce, shoot and edit single-camera style programs. Students learn documentary, commercial and fiction film production. Students may assist in the production aspects of TV- and Kent State University Independent Films. Graduates generally secure permanent or freelance positions at production companies and corporate media departments. Students in the major have the opportunity to work as student employees at TeleProductions, Kent State University's professional broadcast department. In addition, students supplement their coursework with an internship in their field of specialization. There are many study abroad/ away opportunities. If course is not being used to fulfill the writing-intensive requirement, a minimum grade of C- must be earned.
