WORKING WITH SHIRE Responsibility is deeply embedded within our organization and underpins everything that we do. Our employees lead the way in ensuring that we are accountable for our behaviors, as well as our social, economic, and environmental impacts. We are committed to supporting our patients, expanding the availability of innovative medicines for rare diseases, and improving access to these medicines via programs that reduce barriers to treatment. By raising awareness of rare diseases and strengthening support networks, we also reduce time to diagnosis. Our global patient assistance programs ensure access to and affordability of our therapies, while collaboration with patient advocacy organizations and partners worldwide further improves our understanding of the patient, family, and caregiver experiences. At Shire, we also recognize that our people and culture are our most valuable assets. We foster a high-performance, patient-focused environment and work to attract and develop the best talent through the creation of a diverse and inclusive workforce and the provision of a safe and healthy workplace. We recruit individuals who are positive, accountable, and results-driven, who take a responsible and ethical approach to their work, and who want to make a difference to the lives of patients across the globe. Managing the environmental and social impacts of our operations, products, and sourcing is also key, so we work to ensure that the products we deliver are well-tolerated, effective, and of the highest quality. We also encourage our business partners, suppliers, and contractors to adopt similarly responsible and sustainable practices. These commitments extend to our Fellows, who will receive in-depth mentoring across departments and learn how to adopt a results-driven approach. Once completed, the Fellowships also provide an opportunity for successful candidates to apply for a permanent position within Shire. 9
