Cedar Hill High School will offer 4 credit recovery programs for the 2017-2018 school year: Home Learners Twilight School Virtual Lab Summer School All credit recovery courses are taught through Plato. Students must sign up with their Counselor. Course request for acceleration must be pre-approved by Principal, Dean of Instruction, and/or designee. Home Learners Courses offered through Home Learners are offered in an online self-paced format. Criteria for Home Learners Only offered for seniors (including non-classified seniors). The student cannot take more than two semesters (1.0 credit) through this program. Students must complete the course within 5 weeks from enrollment date. Students must make 20% progress each week. A Credit Recovery Contract must be signed by student and parent prior to enrollment. The semester exam must be taken with a credit recovery teacher. Final grade will reflect no higher than a 70. Twilight School Classes offered in Twilight School will be taught by a certified teacher. Twilight School targets students who are no more than four (4) core semesters behind. Final course grade will reflect no higher than a 70. Each session is offered on Tuesday and Thursdays from 4:00-6:00 PM for five (5) weeks. Courses offered in Twilight are English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. 3

For EOC tested courses, students must pass the corresponding exam to take the class in Twilight. For example, for a student to take English 1 in Twilight School, the student must have passed the English 1 EOC. Virtual Lab The Virtual Lab is a credit recovery program that is offered for one period during the school day. Students will lose one elective in their schedule. Students will not earn credit for this course. Students will only receive credit for the courses completed through the online Plato portal. Final grade will reflect no higher than a 70. Virtual Lab targets students who are five (5) or more semesters behind. Summer School Summer School offerings are reviewed on a yearly basis. Summer School information will be released in April 2018. Plato Log-in Information The Plato portal can be accessed from any computer or devise that has internet access. The log-in information is below. Cedar Hill High School Credit Recovery Contract 2017-2018 This acknowledgement of credit recovery requirements must be returned to your Counselor with proper signatures and requested information. Universal Standards 1. You must work the duration of the credit recovery session each day. You must complete 20% of the material and course work per week to stay on pace. You must complete 100% of the coursework prior to the Credit Recovery Administrator unlocking the semester exam. 2. When you complete a course, your final grade will reflect no higher than a 70. If the assigned work is not completed, credit(s) attempted will not be awarded and an NG (no grade) will be placed on the students transcript. 3. You will NOT receive credit if you are withdrawn from a course. 4. Violation of the CHISD Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and Plato Lab guidelines may result in loss of computer privileges and denial of course credit. 5. Lack of progress and poor behavior may result in dismissal from the credit recovery program. 6. You are REQUIRED to take notes for each unit before completing the unit test. The unit test will be unlocked once the Twilight facilitator verifies completion of unit notes. 7. You are NOT ALLOWED to take any unit tests or semester tests from home or outside the credit recovery program. Twilight Standards 1. You are allowed to complete one course per session. A course equals one semester of work or 0.5 credit. The session will last for five weeks. Classes will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays of each week from 4:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m. You are required to attend each class on campus, unless the absence is excused with a medical note. 2. Students who wish to do more may work at home in addition to the session. 3. You will be withdrawn from Twilight School if you do not meet at least 20% progress per week or meet the attendance policy (no more than 2 absences). After the first absence, parent and student will be notified by the Twilight Administrator. 4. If you are removed from TWO sessions, you will not be eligible for future courses offered during Twilight School.
