History SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS - Ref: UoEm/SBE/8/17 Positions of Lecturer and Tutorial Fellow in Economics QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE SENIOR LECTURER - GRADE 13 Applicants must be holders of an earned PhD degree from a recognized University in the relevant areas of specialty. In addition, applicants must: i. Have at least five (5) years of University teaching experience, three (3) of which as full time Lecturer; ii. Have at least 32 publication points, 24 of which from articles in refereed scholarly journals since being appointed Lecturer; iii. Have successfully supervised to completion at least four (4) Masters Students since being appointed Lecturer; iv. Show evidence of successfully securing at least one (1) research grant since being appointed Lecturer; v. Show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops; vi. Show evidence of continued research; and vii. Show evidence of active participation/leadership in departmental and university activities. LECTURER GRADE 12 Applicants must be holders of an earned PhD degree from a recognized University in the relevant area of specialty. In addition, applicants must: i. Have a Master s degree in addition to a first degree from a recognized University in the relevant field; ii. Show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops; and iii. Show evidence of continued research. Those who have university teaching experience and have published in refereed journals will have an added advantage. LECTURER (NURSING) Requirements will be the same as for Lecturer above, however; 2
i. Applicants with Master of Science degree in Nursing in the relevant areas who have three (3) years university teaching experience and have at least 24 publication points, 16 of which from articles in refereed scholarly journals will also be considered. ii. Applicants with Master of Science degree in Nursing in the relevant areas who have registered for a PhD and made substantive progress will be considered for Tutorial Fellowship. TUTORIAL FELLOW GRADE 11 Applicants must be substantively registered for a PhD degree in the relevant area of specialty and have made some substantive progress. In addition, they must; i. Be holders of a Master s degree in the relevant area form a recognized University; and ii. Have a Bachelor s degree of at least second class upper division in the relevant area from a recognized University. Those who have university teaching experience and have published in refereed journals will have an added advantage. B. NON-TEACHING STAFF POSITIONS 1. SENIOR ASSISTANT HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER - GRADE E/F 2. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (MEDICAL MATTERS) GRADE C/D 3. CLINICAL OFFICER GRADE C/D 4. NURSE GRADE C/D 5. ASSISTANT REGISTRY OFFICER GRADE A/B 6. ASSISTANT HOUSEKEEPER - GRADE A/B QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE SENIOR ASSISTANT HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER - GRADE E/F (Ref: UoEm/SAHR/8/2017) Applicants for this position must be holders of a Bachelor s degree in Human Resource Management or Business related area and a Master s degree in Human Resource Management from a recognized University. In addition, applicants must: i. Have a minimum of three (3) years relevant post Bachelor s degree qualification work experience in a busy HR office; ii. Have good analytical, interpretative, report writing and presentation skills iii. Be conversant with regulations relating to labor practices in Kenya; iv. Be a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and v. Be conversant with the relevant computer based management systems. Registration with the relevant professional body will be an added advantage. Those with a Bachelor s degree in Business related area and a postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management plus five (5) years post Diploma work experience in HR may also be considered. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (MEDICAL MATTERS) GRADE C/D (Ref. UoEm/AA/8/2017) - Applicants must be holders of a KCSE C+ or KCE Div. II and above and a Bachelors degree preferably in Business or Social Sciences from a recognized University. In addition, the applicant must; 3
i. Have at least two (2) years relevant work experience in dealing with medical matters such as claims and records; ii. Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications preferably in Data Management; and iii. Possess good report writing, analytical and presentation skills; CLINICAL OFFICER GRADE C/D (Ref: UoEm/CO/8/17) Applicants for this position must be holders of a KCSE C or KCE Div. III and above and a Diploma in Clinical Medicine or equivalent qualification from Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) or equivalent Institution. In addition, the applicants must: i. Have a minimum of three (3) year s post qualification working experience in a busy hospital; ii. Have a valid Practicing License; iii. Be registered with the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya; iv. Have attended at least five (5) professional short courses since qualification; and v. Be computer literate.. NURSE GRADE C/D (Ref: UoEm/NUR/8/17) Applicants for this position must be holders of a KCSE C or KCE Div. III and above and a Diploma in Nursing or equivalent qualification from Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) or equivalent Institution. In addition, the applicants must: i. III and above and a Diploma in Archives and Records Management or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution. In addition, the applicants must: i. Have a minimum of three (3) years post qualification work experience preferably in a bury registry; and ii. Have proven knowledge of computer based records management system. ASSISTANT HOUSEKEEPER - GRADE A/B (Ref: UoEm/AHK/8/17) Applicants for this position must be holders of a KCSE C- (minus) or KCE Div. III and above and a Diploma in Institutional Management or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution. In addition, the applicants must: i. Have a minimum of three (3) years post qualification work experience housekeeping preferably in an institution of higher learning; and ii. Be computer literate.
