The general content areas that appear across grade levels in a set of standards become the instructional areas. Instructional areas are further divided into common instructional sub-areas. Content Specialists align items from the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA ) item bank to these standards. The Measures of Academic Progress (MAP ) assessments and associated reports for teachers and students are based upon this alignment and grouping of standards
