APPLICATION PACKET Purpose The Texas Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) scholarship at Eastfield College provides funding for highachieving, eligible students pursuing degree programs in the STEM field disciplines of Computer Sciences, Engineering, Biological Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics and Physical Science. Benefits Students selected as T-STEM Scholars will receive an opportunity to intern, explore careers and network with other STEM students, faculty and industry professionals. The scholarship award amount is $1,450 per academic year ($725 for Fall & Spring semesters). Eligible students must be in good standing with the institution and fulfill all the obligations required by the T-STEM scholarship program. Requirements Please Read T-STEM Challenge Scholarships are merit scholarships, based on past and continuing student performance in specific instructional programs. Eligible students receiving a first-time T-STEM scholarship must: - Be enrolled at the applicant institution and have a declared field of study in a STEM field. (See page 2 for a list of eligible programs. Nursing majors are not eligible). - Be a full time student with a 3.0 GPA on a four-point scale in mathematics and sciences courses (Recent high school graduates are encouraged to apply GPA will be based on math and science courses taken; college credit can be considered). - Plan to complete a minimum of 30 semester credit hours within a year (registered for a minimum of 10 hours per long semester). This requirement limits applicants to those who have not yet completed 30-35 transferable college credits at the time of application. - Take all course work at Eastfield College unless prior approval to take courses at other DCCCD campuses is granted by the T-STEM committee. - (Males) Register with the Selective Service System as required by federal law or is exempted from Selective Service registration under federal law; http://www.sss.gov/default.htm. Please provide proof of registration with your application. - Agree to participate at least 15 hours a year by working, volunteering or interning in a STEM field or related that you have selected or under the guided program via EFC. Application Process 1. Complete the T-STEM Application, the T-STEM Application Questionnaire, and the T-STEM Scholar Profile and Commitment Agreement. 2. Provide a copy of your DCCCD academic advising report. If you are an incoming freshman, high school transcripts are also required. 3. All males over the age of 18 must submit proof of registration with the selective service. 4.
