Invitation Chungnam National University Chungnam National University () is proud to offer its 8th International Summer School (ISS) in 2013. With the rise in popularity of Korean pop culture and dramas, there is a growing demand for learning Korean culture. This program is the perfect venue for those students wishing to explore the value and beauty of Korea in multi-cultural setting. ISS is primarily designed to provide Korean language course and hands-on cultural experiences. You will not only learn basics of Korean language, but also take part in modern and traditional cultural activities in- and off- campus. Enriching field trips to Seoul and famous tourist attractions are also woven into the program. Based on Korean atmosphere, you will also develop insight into the global community through 3 - weeks sharing with Korean supporters and multicultural participants from more than 10 countries. General Information 01 Visa (for Tourism or Temporary Stay) For short stay (usually less than 90 days), no visa is required for students from country of visa free agreement with Korea. The temporary visit visa (C-3 status) is required for students from country without visa free agreement with Korea. Further information on visa exemption and visa waiver terms can be found at http://www.hikorea.go.kr/pt/infodetailr_en.pt?categoryid=2&parentid=385&ca tseq=401&showmenuid=375 or Korea Immigration Service webpage. OIA will provide relevant visa documents necessary to acquire C-3 visa. 02 Arrival & Pick-up Service Airport pick-up service is available from the Incheon International Airport upon student s request: 96,000 KW (The fee may be subject to change) Students requesting the pick-up service will be directly escorted to the assigned dorm room. Direction to After clearing the immigration and customs, take airport shuttle bus to Daejeon at Bus Stop 9D located outside of the terminal at the arrival level. Ask bus operator to drop off at Jeongbu-Cheongsa (Korea Government Complex) bus stop. (approximately 3 hour long ride) 04 Accommodation On-campus double occupancy room with single beds, closet, desks, and bathroom Newly-built modern housing with amenities such as computer room, laundry, reading room, snack shop, convenience store, fitness room, etc. Room and board includes room and 2 meals (breakfast & dinner) a day. 05 Certificate / Course Transfer Upon the successful completion of the programs, a Certificate of Achievement will be awarded and grade report(pass/fail) will be sent to your university. The program offers total of 60 hours of Korean language and culture classes which are equivalent to 4 credit hours The credit hours may be transferred in accordance with the regulations of your university. Consult your academic advisor to ensure the credit can be transferrable to your university. 06 Travel Insurance Policy All international participants are required to hold travel insurance policy. You may bring your policy from the home country and present the proof at the time of orientation. Another option is to purchase the relevant travel insurance policy in Korea. Travel insurance fee can be varied depending on the age, sex, and number of total applicants. Exact amount will be notified during the orientation. Take taxi and ask taxi operator to take you to Chung-nam-dae Gi-suk-sa ( Dormitory, approximately 15-20 minute long ride) 03 Supporter System student volunteers with English proficiency will be assigned to help ISS participants to acclimate the easy transition to Korea.
