EXECUTIVE EDUCATION LEADING STRATEGIES FOR OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE

LEADING STRATEGIES FOR OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE RANKED BY THE FINANCIAL TIMES Worldwide for Executive Education in 2013 WHY ARE SOME BUSINESSES MORE PROFITABLE THAN OTHERS? How do firms remain competitive in a business environment which is becoming ever more complex, more turbulent and more global? Those firms that do survive, grow, and create value for their shareholders and stakeholders are firms with a clear vision of where and how they want to compete. As senior managers with a global outlook, it is your responsibility to not only shape that vision, but also turn it into business reality. This high-impact five-day program has been designed to challenge and sharpen your strategic thinking, providing you with the latest insights, methods and tools which will help your business achieve outstanding performance. The particular feature of this HEC program is the combination of professors and practitioners from across the globe. The composition of the group with participants from France, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East made the experience not only enriching, but also a lot of fun. Thomas Mackenbrock VICE PRESIDENT CORPORATE DEVELOPMENT, BERTELSMANN AG

WHO IS THE PROGRAM FOR? Participants typically have 15 or more years of management experience and are part of the team determining the strategic direction of their company. Senior executives of large corporations who are one or two levels from CEO Regional Directors or Country Managers of their organizations Senior managers who have, or soon will have, responsibility for developing and implementing strategy in their organization Company owners PROGRAM BENEFITS The program will broaden your perspective on competitive strategies, helping you assess the forces that shape market structures and competition on a global scale. As a result, it will lead you to identify and nurture the specific resources and capabilities of your firm that will yield a sustainable competitive advantage. The program will focus on three key issues: value creation, competitive advantage and growth. MORE SPECIFICALLY, IT WILL ENABLE YOU TO: obtain a clear view of the key economic, technological, political and social trends that drive the transformation of the business environment in a global context, understand the emerging patterns of competition and industry dynamics, particularly in turbulent and interdependent environments, acquire the set of tools necessary to analyze the competitive situation, identify the sources of competitive advantage and the core competencies needed to build sustainable competitive advantage, delineate strategic options, assess alternative modes of growth and generate actionable plans. ACADEMIC DIRECTOR Roger Hallowell, PH.D. is Affiliate Professor at HEC Paris. He was a Professor at Harvard Business School, where he worked from 1991 to 2003. He is an authority on strategic initiatives with the goal of simultaneous cost reduction and quality improvement. His academic work focuses on leadership of organizations that want to increase the value they deliver to customers, often through service. His projects are designed to help executives and senior managers enhance their leadership abilities, including their ability to design and implement change. Roger Hallowell s career began as a banker on Wall Street and includes two senior management positions in industry. He has authored numerous papers and written more than 60 case studies on organizations in North America, Europe and Asia, including three HBS best-sellers. He advises private equity firms on their investments in the service sector. Organizations he has worked with include Fortis (Belgium), Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts (Canada), Grupo IMSA (Mexico), IBM, Jyske Bank (Denmark), Merrill Lynch, and The National Library Board of Singapore. Roger Hallowell has an AB from Harvard College (1984) and an MBA and Doctorate from Harvard Business School. Other prominent faculty will be joining Professor Hallowell in teaching on the program. FORMAT The program offers an ideal mix of learning methods using corporate games, situational role plays, case studies and simulations. Our diverse learning methods will guide you towards dynamic knowledge acquisition and enhance your decisionmaking capabilities. HEC Paris also provides the opportunity for online work, which will enable you to: use selected pedagogical resources and gain access to further reference material, be supervised by the faculty, train online, using the CrossKnowledge self-training modules jointly developed with HEC professors.

This is a great program for fine-tuning your ability to really do some good strategic thinking and strategic planning. But more importantly, it provides methodologies to implement strategy. I have always felt that I would much rather have an average strategy brilliantly implemented than a great strategy not implemented well this program makes the point very well. Tom Ray GLOBAL COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR, STOLICHNAYA BRAND COMPANY JOIN THE HEC COMMUNITY By attending this program, you will be entitled to join the network of HEC Paris Executive Education alumni. As such, you will receive HEC s latest news and information, be invited to dedicated events and be provided with extensive networking opportunities.
