English in Chester is open from Monday 8 January 2018 until Friday 21 December 2018. The school will reopen from Monday 7 January 2019. PUBLIC HOLIDAYS IN 2018 The following public holidays occur in 2018: Friday 30 March, Monday 2 April, Monday 7 May, Monday 28 May, Monday 27 August. On our General English and Examination Courses there are no classes on these dates and there is no discount in fees. On our 25+ Courses there are no classes on these dates and there is a pro-rata reduction in fees. On our Development Courses for Teachers there are classes on public holidays. When a public holiday occurs at the beginning of or during a 50+ Course there is an orientation programme for students or an excursion instead of lessons for that day. EXAMINATION COURSES English Courses with Internationally Recognised Qualifications On all our Examination Courses the minimum age is 16 and the maximum class size is 12. There are up to 4 hours of supervised self-study on the FCE and CAE courses. 6¼ hours are available on all other examination courses. There is a barrier test for all examination courses. If students book an exam course and on arrival in Chester are not at the right level, they will be transferred to the most suitable course available. HOW TO ENROL & PAY FOR YOUR COURSE If you want to study at English in Chester we accept bookings in the following ways: directly via our website or by completion of our application form through one of our Educational Tour Operators (ETOs) located throughout the world If you book through an ETO you are the client of that ETO rather than the school. Any significant amendments, queries, complaints and payment issues should be addressed to the ETO. If you are booking your own course: Complete the application form. You can apply online or you can download the application form from our website. Arrange to send a deposit of 200.00 and registration fee of 55.00 to English in Chester. Make sure that you indicate clearly who the payment is from and what it refers to. You will receive a confirmation of your booking and an invoice when we have received your application form and deposit. The deposit is part of the fees. Payment of the balance of your fees should be made at least 4 weeks before the start of your course. If you book a course less than 28 days before the intended start of your course the total fees are payable at the time of the application. It is a requirement to take out insurance against cancellation or curtailment of your course. You can pay by any of the following methods. In the UK, students under the age of 18 are children. English in Chester has a legal duty to safeguard and protect children studying at the school. Parents or guardians of children at English in Chester must complete a parental consent form agreeing to certain restrictions on their child, especially when they are not in the school. Students will be able to meet regularly with our Designated Safeguarding Person or other trained member of staff to discuss any difficulties or concerns they are having. We do not accept beginners (A0) or very advanced learners (C2 and above) on our courses, except for individual tuition. When you arrive in Chester, if we find that you are A0 or C2+ level, we may offer you the costequivalent number of individual lessons. If you decide to cancel your course this must be done in writing in an e-mail to the school or to your ETO. The deposit, registration fee and courier fees as applicable are strictly non-refundable. There are cancellation charges relating to tuition and accommodation fees. These depend on when you inform the school/your ETO. If you decide to leave the school before the end of your course, tuition fees are not refundable.
