It s a guarantee of quality. SQA Qualifications INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNISED AND QUALITY ASSURED SQA qualifications are high quality, flexible and relevant to industry. This means they are designed to suit the changing needs of different countries and industry providers. They provide a route to employment, develop the skills of staff and can provide advanced university entry. Many are recognised by professional bodies, and enable Associate Grade and Member Grade of professional bodies, for example the Chartered Management Institute (CMI)., Collyer Quay, The Arcade, #14-04/0, Singapore 041
They can complement local qualifications to expand international recognition. All of SQA s qualifications are recognised on or are aligned to these qualifications frameworks: Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) for Scotland The Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) for the United Kingdom (excluding Scotland) European Qualifications Framework (EQF) for Europe About SQA Higher National Diploma (HND) Qualifications An HND is a Higher Education qualification. HND stands for Higher National Diploma. HNDs are vocational qualifications that use practical approaches to learning including project and assignment work, team and group work, and research into real business practice. Offered by colleges, some universities and many other training centres, HNDs are specially designed to meet the needs of employers both locally and nationally. They are developed by the SQA in partnership with colleges, universities and industry. Because employers and universities recognise Higher National Qualifications as good evidence of ability, having an HND will help people progress into an overseas university or get a job. For anyone who is serious about getting a job and having a career with prospects, getting an HND is one of the best ways to achieve that ambition. Many HNDs allow direct entry to third year study at university. They can also provide the knowledge and understanding required for vocational qualifications such as Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) and National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs). Currently the most popular choice for students after studying an HND is to go to on to a degree in a university. If you complete an SQA HND programme you will be able to apply to a university. The university will also require evidence of English language ability. Depending on the degree you select, you may have to undertake some form of bridging programme., Collyer Quay, The Arcade, #14-04/0, Singapore 041

Britlink and SQA will: visit your centre to discuss details of the qualifications you wish to offer and provide detailed guidance on the approval process advise on building the required capability of structures and systems to support your application provide the approval form and assist with the completion of this to meet SQA's approval and internal verification criteria scrutinise the completed application form prior to submission for approval Approval as an SQA centre Once we have all the information we need, we will contact your nominated SQA Co-ordinator to arrange a convenient date and time for a centre approval visit by an SQA Systems Approver and confirm the arrangements in writing. The Systems Approver will look for evidence that your centre has the potential to meet the criteria for approval as an SQA centre. It will depend on the information you provide in your application and the qualifications you wish to offer. If the visiting approval team is large it would be helpful if you could provide a room where they could meet during the visit. At the end of the visit the EV will provide us with a verbal report outlining their recommendations. The Systems Approver and the EV(s) will provide written reports to SQA Approvals department and, if systems approval and at least one subject approval are successful, your organisation will receive SQA centre approval. Your SQA Co-ordinator will receive written confirmation of the decision within days of the approval visit/skype calls taking place. Recognition If you are successfully delivering qualifications with another awarding body regulated by Ofqual, the UK regulator of qualifications, examinations and assessments, it may be possible for us to approve your centre without a visit. Our Qualifications Approval and Verification team will be able to offer further guidance on this, please contact us for more information.
